I always love Sedaris. I was happy to read that he's stopped smoking and drinking and doing drugs. May he live longer so he can write more books!

I love the way Sedaris goes off on tangents and then brings everything together at the end. When reading several of his pieces in a row it can become a bit repetitive, but he does it with such skill and humor and that it can be really delightful to read.

This is a book filled with essays or short stories that involve Sedaris life that I checked out because it was recommended by Yan. Not as funny as some of his earlier work, When You Are Engulfed in Flames still shows the same cleverly self-deprecating humor and story-telling savoir-faire that committed Sedaris readers and listeners have grown dependent upon.[ full review ]
