In 2011 the Syrian Uprising removed authoritarian President Bashar al-Assad from power. As a result, various factions remain fighting for power of the war-torn country. Because of the conflict, eleven million people have been displaced from their homes. Of these refugees, more than half of them are children . These children are often forced to drop out of school to provide for their families. They suffer from malnourishment and are at a dangerously increased risk of exploitation. Children that do not escape the grasp of the Syrian Civil War suffer from being used as human shields, child soldiers, and are witnesses to crimes against humanity. As a direct result, more than 24,000 children have already died in the civil war. In the most recent attack dozens of civilians were rushed to the hospital after exposure to Sarin gas. One father sobbed as he cradled his nine-month-old twins in his arms. They too were victims to the gas attack . These recent events have caused many nations across the world to ponder what should be done to assist these families.
