War is no place for the weak. It takes its toll on everyone involved. The participants are never the same, nor is the land that is left ravaged by the brutality inflicted upon its inhabitants. The conflicts between the Soviets and Nazi Germany was no exception. Journey into some of the untold stories of the Soviet front in World War II as the Soviets fought for their freedom and their lives.
Learn about Germany’s master plan for the entire nation of Russia and how they planned to deal with the so-called inferior Soviets. Read more about how the Red Army fought back and won. The cost was great, but the reward was even greater. Learn about some of the many battles that caused the Soviet Union to lose nearly 14% of their population. They fought back valiantly as the Germans invaded the Motherland, driving them back out of the country.
Read about the atrocities that the Soviet prisoners of war were subjected to. They were some of the first unfortunate inmates at the infamous Auschwitz and the first to take a one way trip to the gas chamber. They may have been the lucky ones though.
Find out why the German’s failed to take the USSR and what their fatal mistakes were that led to their eventual demise. Why did the USSR win against this super power that was bent on their destruction? What did the Germans forget to take into account? Read more about how their lack of planning and accessibility to supplies was their ultimate undoing. What lengths did the Red Army go to in order to secure manpower?
For the scholar or the novice, this book has plenty of stories that will leave you moved and wanting to know more.
Comments From Other Readers
“I never realized just how brutal these conditions were. When we see movies put on by Hollywood it almost glamourizes the whole thing. This book really opened my eyes to the rawness of the reality of war. It’s not Hollywood’s version but that’s a good thing. I never realized what happened to all of the POWs and the USSR guys weren’t much better with their own citizens. While I’m not a big history reader this book really had be hooked from the start.” Beth S. – Georgia (USA)
“War if never a pretty thing but suffice it to say that the brutality of these actions is shocking. There is little room for sentimental actions on the battle field and this book more than illustrates that fact. If you are looking for something that bats around the edges this is the wrong book for you. The author was unafraid to dive into the dirty details of a dirty war without the theatrics we have become so accustomed to. Truly a stellar book.” Bert P. – Glasgow (Scotland)
