To me, this is the best of Neil Gaiman. The story and characters were funny and real, and the book walked a fine line between mystical and reality set in the real world that was completely satisfying to me (unlike American Gods that pushed a little too far into the mystical.)

Very satisfying book. It has a lighter tone than American Gods and reminds me of summer breezes. It really does.

I really enjoyed this story. It's semi-related to Neil's "American Gods", but not much. This is more like a spin-off than a sequel, or even a companion. I enjoyed "American Gods" for a lot of reasons - it was kind of dark and mysterious and contained a lot of mythology. This book is much lighter, mo...

Every book I read from Gaiman just makes me want to read more. It's going to be a sad day when I have caught up and have to wait for his next release. ANANSI BOYS was a lighter, more fun read than even some of his children's stories, and I thought that it was a great retelling of some old folktale...

I don’t know why I put this down as a three initially. Obviously, it’s bumped up after subsequent rereadings. I think it’s partially because Charlie reminds a little too much of Richard from Neverwhere at the beginning of this, as they’re both milquetoast characters who get thrown into the fantastic...

I am not sure what to say about this book. I have a feeling I will be thinking about it for quite some time, which is saying something. Definitely worth a read.

I listened to this on tape, and oh my goodness, the narrator couldn't have done a better job!!! He really mastered all of the various accents required - Caribbean, British, USA - he was wonderful. It would be worth the effort just to listen to this narrator! But, the book was very good, too. Sort ...

Fat Charlie was dubbed so by his dad when just a chubby child. Unfortunately even though he shed the pounds the name stuck. Many years later Fat Charlie is living an unremarkable life, with a crappy job and a girlfriend who insists on making him "wait until marriage". When Charlie's dad dies he lear...

Loved it. Absitively. (P.S. Highly recommend the audio book. Lenny Henry's voices, particulary of Mrs. Higgler and Anansi, were completely charming.)
