Reading progress update: I've read 140 out of 382 pages.
Richter und Gerichtete - Sling

This was recommended to me by Kurt Tucholsky... and I have to say it is quite interesting and not as political as I thought it would be.

Im Krebsgang - Günter Grass

A really good book, short but through it's theme and characters a good summary of all things German, during and after the war.

Reading progress update: I've read 50 out of 216 pages.
Im Krebsgang - Günter Grass

All of the books by Günter Grass on my shelves are not really my books. They belong to Mr. Gecko who is a huge fan of the "Tin Drum" and Grass himself. My own relation ship to one of Germany's best known and noble prize honored authors is not all that great. I like some, some I couldn't stand and had to push through to finish them.

But if you have a lot of books at home, they need to be read, and so I decided a while a go to read one book of his every year. This year it's "Crab walk" or "Im Krebsgang" due to Leopard's review of it .

Der Hals der Giraffe - Judith Schalansky

Don't trust professional reviews

Don't trust Book Blurbs

Don't trust the first page

and don't trust an author to represent evolution correctly, if it isn't written by a biologist.

Some books are just out there to make me angry.

Still nice cover ;)

Der Hals der Giraffe - Judith Schalansky

I think a real misanthrope should not care what other people think about him... still in search of the meaning of this book. Rambling biology lessons can't be all, can they?
