Another by Yukito Ayatsuji - A Japanese mystery/horror novel that takes place in a small town called Yomiyama. It being set in a small town is important, because it's why the main character, a newcomer to the town, doesn't understand what's going on for so long (long enough to screw everything up). The "terror" part comes in with all the deaths caused by supernatural forces.

It just occurs to me that the very first "Cadfael" mystery would qualify for this list, too. Not all of the series -- Shrewsbury was a fairly significant market town in the Middle Ages -- but certainly the first book, which takes the monks to a village / small town in Wales: "A Morbid Taste for Bones" (ISBN 9780446400152).

You know, every once in awhile I'll go to click on the book to add it and the page acts as though it isn't there and instead activates either the "save" or the "cancel" button that lies underneath instead. It did it to me several times yesterday and I wanted to scream. Thought I'd caught all of them when it happened (several times I'd lost most of the books I was adding and had to start over), but nope. I'll add it now. Thanks for catching it. :)
