There are several challenges that the United States Corrections system faces regularly. In exploring these challenges, solutions and justification for these issues may also be examined. References to drug use and abuse, obedience or lack thereof with inmates and why, and consideration for prisons developing into a breeding ground for super criminals are made, and such topics are examined. Further exploration into the mindset and requirements of a correctional officer present unique observations and the impression that such a professional role requires significant contribution and sacrifice of self in order to effectively and efficiently execute the duties of this role.
