Really pretty very good. Not at all ground-breaking for this genre, but nicely done, especially Meriel, Nell and Edwina - tough, strong female characters who either avoided the stereotypes, or carried them off with panache.

3.5 starsInteresting world and characters. I could have used a little more explanation on the witches, stuck witches, turned witches and mages. I felt a little lost a couple times and had to go back and remind myself on what the differences were. And, I'm still not clear on the mage front.

I really liked the relationship between Meriel and Dominic. They acted like adults. They were happy together throughout much of the book, something we don't often get in romance. That was just a nice difference. Meriel was a strong heroine--also my fav.
