Reasonably well written but the plot was very contrived. Unrewarding.

I almost did not even want to write the review for this book, because I realized that I seem to be in the minority among most reviewers. But I am adhering to my policy of giving honest reviews, and after all, how can someone like every book they read? So let it be said that I did not particularly en...

The only thing that prevented me from giving this book a single star rating is that there were a few decent turns of phrase: "They hated him and they needed him and they excused him" and "She had been adept at the beginning and the ends of things, and now she saw that whatever pleasures life had to ...

I tried. I know lots of people loved this book, but I just couldn't get into it. I like a good psychological thriller, but the "psychological" side to this one was pretty heavy-handed at least in the portion of this book I plodded through.

Read a full review @ http://bit.ly/RjpLZ8My opinion: I must admit that this wasn't my favorite Goolrick book. I found the characters to be less approachable and developed than A Reliable Wife, which is a book I absolutely loved by this author. I found myself skimming the last quarter of the book bec...

I know I did it backwards, reading his newest first, then going back to read this one. But if he had ten more, I'd go and get them all. The dude can suck you into a story, that's for sure. And make you love characters that you start out hating.

I mean to put this on the suspense shelf and it sensual by mistake, but after reading a number of low starred reviews here on Goodreads, the main complaint being too much thinking/talking/doing sexxoring, I think I'll leave it on the sensual shelf. :D

While I don't like the fact that all the women in this story turn out to be whores, it's a good book. Not what I was expecting from the blurb, but it was a nice surprise. Definitely worth reading though it tripped me out a bit. Seriously intense read. I was riveted and couldn't wait to see how thing...

This book starts out like a sunny day. Everything is lovely and sweet. Then a few clouds trickle in. And it starts to rain, a little, but that's okay. And then all hell breaks loose and your entire life is gone. Wow. Unlike anything I've read for a while. Probably closer to a 3.5-3.75.
