A collection of short stories selected by Murakami. Even when all of them are related to birthdays, each one is unique, and they produce different emotions to the reader. I loved this book for this reason, and it was a practical introduction to other authors´ work that I will read later.
Ponderous. Wordy. Awkward cadence. Repetitious.
Banks is a gritty, detailed, evocative writer and I'd give this short story collection four stars, but boy it was depressing.
