Death Trance - Graham Masterton

As president of one of Tennessee's largest companies, Randolph Clare is outraged when arsonists destroy one of his Memphis plants. But then his wife and children are savagely murdered. All thoughts of vengeance are drowned in his grief.

Desperate to see his loved ones again, if only to bid them farewell, he enlists the aid of an Indonesian physician who claims that he can help Randolph enter the world of the dead. But, the doctor warns, ravening demons wait for those who dare the voyage. Not only Randolph's life will be at stake, but the souls of his family.

Really enjoyed this, as one of the first book's i've read of Graham Masterton's I have to say I was impressed! The plot flowed and the location's!! wow! graham has a way with word's that makes you feel as if you're there in the location he's writing about. I went to Tennessee and Thailand! Really spooky read into the world of occult Buddhism.

The First Was Only A warning....
Damien: Omen II - Joseph Howard

Little by little, one of the world's most powerful families is being destroyed. And no one seems to know why. Those who suspect the truth do not live to reveal it. — Only thirteen-year-old Damien Thorn seems immune from the bizarre accidents claiming the lives of those around him. Damien, whose own father tried to kill him seven years ago... Damien, whose loving foster family is learning the meaning of hellish fear... Damien, who is leaving behind the seeming innocence of youth to fulfill the terrifying prophecy foretold long ages ago... Damien, who is discovering that it is not, after all, the meek but the master of ultimate evil who shall inherit the earth!

So...

I was on the second book of one of the most famous fiction antichrist Saga's known the Damien Omen saga, there was 6 book's written by different authors i'm not going sit here and say the book's were based on the film or vice versa when I don't know. The thing I do know though, is the sega is amazing!! It has that kind of retro Horror feel about it that has been copied a lot, but this is the original and it's held it's craze as a classic.

Damien is now 13 in this book. And for some reason doesn't actually know he's the Antichrist. To me that seemed a bit out of place as I'm sure in the 1st book he is actually told.

The plot, it's self was fantastic, it didn't quite focus on the main protagonist Danien but mainly on those around him and for the family he was adopted into the 'Thorns' and the Thorn's corporation, it had a quite of up to age feel that I liked considering this book was written by the author in 1978! It didn't have a drudging polt and the paperback was slim and easy to read. I'm actually so hyped I now own this whole collection! As it really is classic horror read. I just have to watch the films now!

The Omen - David Seltzer

A boy Born of a Jackel?...   I get that! But how does Satan impregnate it? How did they get his sperm? Did he rise up and say hi, I'm Lucifer, son of lies, I'm here to do some sick stuff and make a son?

I honestly thought this when reading the book!? I know I'm strange but in the book it has no explanation at all to how they got the devil's Sperm to make Damian, they just said he was born of a jackel?

Apart from that I loved this classic horror book, The idea of the Antichrist being born made for a very chilling and spooky tale.

David seltzer does an amazing written work on this. The story grips you and sucks you in and I have to say is, I didn't put the book down. The plot involving the thorn's as well as the other character's is, fascinating although a bit Spooky and gruesome. I'm so glad I actually brought the whole collection as I could easily read them all.

99 Fear street saga R.L Stine ((Retro Horror 90's))
The First Horror - R.L. Stine
The Second Horror (99 Fear Street, No. 2) - R. L. Stine
The Third Horror - R.L. Stine

I decided i was going back to the 90s with a retro kind of Horror read!

I was browsing through my local library's Ebook section when these caught my eye. At once I was drawn back to my childhood when I passed whole rows of this series of book's and point horror in the teen section. For anybody who remembers the 90s! From a teenager's prospective. R.L Stine and Point horror were the book's to read for Teen horror. There was ton's of them! And some of them were absolutely terrifying! Goosebumps were more for the younger ages.

It's really good to see that R.L Stine is still Much requested. I chose the fear street saga not really expecting much, but was proved pleasantly surprised! I'm going to give a complete breakdown of The ones I got my hands on in one post.

Cally,Kody,James,Mr and Mrs Fraiser had just moved to 99 Fear street, and the twin sisters weren't thrilled to move in...After their arrival the accidents follow first a tree branch almost falls on cally's head, then the rats attack them, the window panel falls on kody's hand, and other accidents happen...soon the twin sisters are sure the house is haunted or cursed after hearing the terrible story from a boy in their neighborhood.
everything turns more mysterious when the house owner whom they had bought the house is found dead long ago, and strange things keep happening! Infact they get more crazy from there. A Very sad ending that was kind of expected in the end.

I actually prefer this one to the first one. This house still stands and a new family move in. All sorts of turmoil awakes again and the house and its ghosts are intent on trying to kill the new family!

Kody Frasier, makes a return. She always swore she would come back. And this time she brings a whole Hollywood film team with her! In my personal opinion not as good as they other two, but still a very good read.

Project Gutenberg Buddy Reads

Tentatively for an October launch, I've set up a group/bookclub (discussion room) and some reading lists to do possibly monthly buddy reads.  You don't have to join reading lists or the group in order to participate in any buddy reads of interest.

Suggest books and categories on either (or on any of these posts tagged "Project Gutenberg Buddy Reads").  Just because I put one book in the reading list doesn't mean that will be the buddy read book (just means I had to stick one in to create the list or that someone already suggested it).

Discussion Room is at http://booklikes.com/groups/show/710/project-gutenberg-buddy-reads

Reading Lists are by category/genre (feel free to suggest others):
