AFTERNOON DELIGHT is a captivating novella about Tim and Sarah, two people who meet and decide to have a no-strings-attached relationship. Tim has a very stressful job, he’s a paramedic and he uses random hookups to ease his stress. Sarah owns a food truck located in a park close to where Tim works. Tim first meets Sarah when she asks him to sample one of her healthy, nutritious meals after she watches him quickly cram unhealthy food into his mouth.

I enjoyed Tim and Sarah’s playful relationship and there’s a lot of chemistry between them from the moment they meet. Tim and Sarah each look at the world differently. Tim does everything fast because he is constantly dealing with death and tragedy and it gives him less time to think about what he witnesses. Sarah likes to take things slowly and she savors everything in life including food. She shows Tim that when he slows down and takes his time he will find more enjoyment, because some things in life are worth waiting for.

Dead Sexy Dragon by Lolita Lopez is a new series with more books coming out this summer. But until then, we have the first two books in the series to look forward to if you are a dragon shifting fan. Each installment is novella length, but they get you heart racing in a very short amount of time.

 

Stig Wyvern is a very old dragon who has vowed to never get involved with a human woman. Joined to the Green Back Brotherhood, he protects the dragon race, while restraining himself in his basement during this mating period. All prepared to go below, a knock comes on the door and his dead best friend’s sister is right there. Cora Cardenas has no where else to turn when she is caught moving illegal items to settle her brothers debts. Then her bakery burns down as warning to her to keep her mouth shut. Stig told her she could count on him, so she does.

 

The story takes place over about 3 nights. The first night they separate with Stig explaining he has a migraine, but instead restrains himself. They share erotic dreams that push them to realize their long distance love really might be a fated match. The reality of it all hits Cora after the second night and she runs. This where it turns from just a sexy book into some action, which was way to brief.

 

For a short story, it packs a punch of erotic thrills and keeps you on your toes with a battle in the end. You meet up with some more dragons, which is my hope to see them in their own books. Now I just can’t wait to start on the second book, Red Hot Dragon.

Sanctum by Lexi Blake is part of the Masters and Mercenaries series, but a small part. Ryan Church is the Dom in Residence at Sanctum, the BDSM club owned by Ian Taggart. With a big idea in his head, he is ready to take on the world again after having lost everything that mattered to him, including his submissive, Jill. When his world fell apart, he ended his contract with her, giving her to another man for caregiving. Never explaining to her what happened he goes off to lick his wounds and try to come back from all the devastating losses he has suffered.

 

Now Ian is up his ass wanting a new bartender yesterday. Ian being Ian has already arranged the interviews and leaves Ryan with no choice but to hire someone when in walks Jill applying for the job. Now eighteen months later he doesn't feel he has anything to offer her besides the job.

 

Jill was shattered by Ryan's abrupt turning her over to his friend like she was property. Immediately she leaves this other man and forges her way into life but can only get crappy jobs and even crappier apartments. This bar tending job is step up from the world of stripping. Sucking up her emotions, she takes the job and hopes to hold onto her heart.

 

Now Ryan has to make a decision: wealth and fortune or Jill. Will he make the correct choice or lose the one woman who can love him completely?

 

What an powerfully packed short story of miscommunication. Doms don't know it all and really need to be open and as honest as they expect their submissives. This just goes to show Doms do make mistakes and think they are still Gods, lol. Now he has a chance to make it better, but I wondered if he really learned any lessons in 18 months?

 

Filled with humor, sex, BDSM, and some unsavory types, this story left me feeling fulfilled on a side character I have always wondered about.

 

Are Doms Gods? Can they be forgiven for not being honest and making critical mistakes?
