Get Inked by Helena Hunting
Get Inked: (A PUCKED Series and Clipped Wings Crossover Novella) - Helena Hunting,Jessica Royer Ocken

Helena Hunting’s GET INKED was a fun story that did a great job as a crossover novella between the Pucked and Clipped Wings Series  The guys from the Pucked Series get hockey themed team tattoos that are designed by the men of the Clipped Wings Series  This contemporary novella takes place in Chicago.

GET INKED starts out with Randy Ballistic talking to his girlfriend Lily LeBlanc about getting another tattoo sleeve.  The story is told from multiple characters,’ from both series, point of view throughout the story.  I like that this was a crossover novella.  I enjoy the Pucked Series and appreciated getting an update on the individuals.  I have not read any of the books in the Clipped Wings Series before, but I enjoyed its concept and characters.  Being a Chicagoan, I love that both series take place there.

I appreciated how the characters get along and interact with each other.  I liked the scenes with Darren and Charlene.  I’m really dying to learn more about their relationship.  I like Lance, I’m looking forward to his story.  I like Clipped Wings’ Tenley and Hayden.  The cupcakes are great.  I appreciated the similarities between Randy and Hayden.  I can never get enough of the rest of the Pucked crew: Violet, Alex, Miller, Sunny, Randy, and Lily.  They’re conversations are amusing.

INKED ARMOUR BY: HELENA HUNTING
Inked Armour (Clipped Wings) - Helena Hunting

I can't help but feel disappointed by Inked Armour. I really enjoyed Clipped Wings, the first book in this series, so when I saw this second book up for grabs in NetGalley, I was pumped! I was so excited to start it, and then very let down once I was into it. I don't know if I just wasn't in the right mood to enjoy this story, or what the deal was, but ultimately I found myself increasingly annoyed while reading this.

I swear if either Tenly or Hayden had one more breakdown, I was going to loose my cool. Enough is enough already. I wasn't expecting no problems from them, considering how "damaged" they came off in the first book....but I was not prepared for Inked Armour to be busting at the seems with over the top drama. It ruined a lot of my enjoyment in reading this book. Let me show you in gifs my feelings through most of this book.....

I was glad to see Tenly and Hayden not keeping anymore secrets, I thought that was a nice development. But I don't know that there was much more positive than that. I felt like most of the healing that we saw with both Tenly and Hayden was kind of vague and unrealistic. One therapy session seemed to work wonders for Hayden, as did hiding the things that he was so proud of that set him apart from everyone else. And Tenly just seemed to come back home, emotionally, exponentially ahead from where she was the last time we saw her. It just didn't feel real to me. I also would have liked to see the deal with Hayden's parents be more of a surprise, it was rather obvious to me. And was anyone shocked at how well Hayden appeared to handle that information?? He freaked out through this whole book thinking about this situation, and then when he figures it all out he was more composed than I had ever seen him be. WTF??

I think I might need to take a slight break from the NA/romance books. I desperately need a great fantasy or maybe horror book to read next. Just something different. I don't know that I have the patients to suffer anymore emotionally stunted cry babies and their extreme outbursts right now.

Between the Cracks (The Clipped Wings Series)
Between the Cracks (The Clipped Wings Series) - Helena Hunting I haven't read any of the other books in this series, which ended up being a mistake.

There are midquel books out there that stand on their own just fine, but Between the Cracks is definitely meant for people who already know the series.

While there's enough information thrown around through the course of the short story, none of the characters really get an introduction, and the story starts running right out the gate.

I actually didn't know what exactly was going on until I read the excerpt from the second book, which explains who the hell Tenley is, why she's suddenly not talking to her boyfriend, and why she ran off to her jerk of a brother-in-law.

Long story short: If you're just picking this up because it's free, you're probably not going to get much out of this.

Between the Cracks by Helena Hunting
Between the Cracks (The Clipped Wings Series) - Helena Hunting

A novella about Chris!  I enjoyed getting a peak into the mind of Hayden’s outspoken coworker.  This story is very short, even for a novella but it is a great addition to the Clipped Wings series.
