White Witchmas
White Witchmas - Dakota Cassidy

Finn left the night of their engagement party with no explanation. It turns out he was in jail (the magical kind) and is now back to serve out his parole. Cozy (yes, that's her name) was understandably hurt and wants nothing to do with him (but, of course she really does!). I felt a little lost with the cast of characters, so it took lots of time to figure that all out. Then there were doggy diapers and the Depends Patrol (yes, really).
And of course there is a reasonable explanation for everything:

Finn was really undercover and Cozy has *special* powers!

I'm so Sick of Stupid
Witched At Birth - Dakota Cassidy

2 stars It started out rough for me with excessively crude comments from a very immature character.(-1 star) Normally I would just say okay it's part of the story but these were just for crude shock value and added nothing to the characters or the story. It was just gross. Seriously saying "i smell old lady crouch" from an adult ? Unfortunately that wasn't the only name calling that made no sense in the book. The character in question toned it done after she learned her lesson. Well not completely she still name called and degraded people. She made a miraculous personality change suddenly in the book. "Poof" I'm not going to do that anymore, Yeah it went like that. It was predictable, a broken romance rekindled, ending in a HEA. None of the characters had any real depth, they read like cookie cutter people.I don't care about any of these characters or this world enough to move on i the series

Reading progress update: I've read 23%.
Witched At Birth - Dakota Cassidy

Woah, this starts out really immature and crude. Saying someone smells like "old lady crouch" Ewwww and there is more like that, stupid middle school level stuff. It seems so stupid in the story too these little ridiculous put downs. They don't add anything to the story or character. I hope the female character grows beyond this.

Down the freebie rabbit hole ...
Darkness Awakened - Stephanie Rowe
Southern Spirits (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries Book 1) - Angie Fox
The Accidental Demon Slayer - Angie Fox
Forced Compliance (The Galactic Outlaws Book 1) - Bradford Bates
Witched At Birth (A Paris, Texas Romance) - Dakota Cassidy
Thunder Hunter - Rachel Medhurst
Necessary Magic - Val St. Crowe
The Royal Companion: An epic love story (The Companion series Book 1) - Tanya Bird

Browsing on Amazon to fill in book data and glancing at goodreads SOS group's freebie thread, some kindle edition finds that were free today.

Yes, I do know better and the TBR is staggering.

I had already read and enjoyed (but still free):  Southern Spirits (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries Book 1) - Angie Fox  and The Accidental Demon Slayer - Angie Fox

There were more on that thread (skipping to the newest posts that's https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/449475-book-freebies-kindle-nook-author-pub-other?comment=178853157&page=174#comment_178700740 ); some I skipped for no other reason than too many quoted praises in place of the book description ( or already read/downloaded, seemed to be short stories,  serial episodes which I'm not really in the mood to read...).

The Accidental Human
The Accidental Human - Dakota Cassidy OK, i love that the author writes women in a realistic fashion, however, much like in real life, that reality does become obnoxious. Nina stopped being bold and strong, and has become pig headed and loud. Marty was nice and calm and is now more how Nina initially was. Wanda's all over the map. I just feel like these ladies are loosing their individual identities and all becoming Snooky circa Jersey Shore. I found myself just skipping pages and pages of text and not even missing a bit of the plot, which makes me super sad because I was loving binging this series. Maybe that was a mistake. Maybe these ladies were not meant to be binged. I'm still hooked but i really hope, they stfu, as they all like to say.
