Just One Fake Date - Deborah Cooke

Deborah Cooke decided to re-write the first book of the Flatiron Five Fitness with a new female lead for Tyler, Shannyn Hawke, with a whole new plot. Shannyn is a freelance photogapher who went to college with Tyler and she has a job to cover the alumni who own Flatiron Five Fitness. From the moment she walks into his office, sparks fly and the story vibe was a lot different from the original book.  I liked it a lot. I liked the chemistry between Shannyn and Tyler, I enjoyed watching Tyler fight for a real relationship with her, and the passion was great between the two.  The original book had Tyler playing two characters, him and a BDSM character with Amy and I just didn't like how Amy had difficulty seeing how Tyler is the man for her.  In this one, Shannyn had commitment issues, and I liked that conflict better. Tyler had to fight to prove to her that a relationship could work and that he wasn't going anywhere. There was no need for any subterfuge in this one and I loved how the story flowed and concluded. Overall, so much better start to a series that was awesome! I just want to know what his new buildboard looks like with Shannyn :-)

4 Star Quest
Celo's Quest - Deborah Cooke

He’s the hidden prince who understands the language of wild creatures and now he has unearthed a forgotten secret and accepts a challenge and embarks on a quest, seeking the solution to a riddle.

This short is quite informative with a lovely and very engaging legend regarding the dragons. This legend is enthralling and the teller of the legend, even more so readers can’t take their eyes from the pages. This sets up the next story and ends on a cliffhanger but the readers find themselves delighted and charmed with this novella in the ‘Dragons of Incendium’ series.

5 Star Wyvern's Outlaw
Wyvern's Outlaw - Deborah Cooke

He’s pretended to share the Gloria Furore space pirates’ views and has worked his way up the ranks, but Ryke wants nothing more than to escape and go home to his young son. The capture of Princess Anguissa and her ship is a moment of triumph for his superior, except Anguissa never plays by anyone’s rules and she’s soon in command of the Armada Seven. Ryke’s not sure why he’s been spared or what plans the beautiful dragon princess has in store for him but surely he can manipulate things the way he wants them to go, right?

This ‘Dragons of Incendium’ story is one non-stop, thrilling adventure of a story with lots of sizzling chemistry, flying sparks and feisty attitude that readers cannot put down. Anguissa and Ryke are vibrant characters that stand out and really spark the imagination with tons of chemistry and feisty attitude that keeps readers very entertained throughout their fiery relationship. They are enemies and are forbidden to have anything to do with the other but that doesn’t stop the attraction between them from getting the upper hand even if they aren’t sure they can trust the other so there is lots of emotional angst and red hot passion to spare.

The plot is fast past with lots going on at every given moment, ensuring that readers never experience a dull moment and the thrilling suspense and nail biting excitement has them hanging on to the edge of their seat. Some new and unique story elements introduce another fascinating alien culture to this world as another dragon princess defies tradition does things in their own spitfire way.

5 Star Mistletoe
Under the Mistletoe - Deborah Cooke

Even though it’s been years, Christmas reminds Chynna of what she’s lost and makes her miss her husband even more and attending a Christmas wedding would be another reminder. After being persuaded to go, Chynna decides that a hook-up with Trevor could be a way to move beyond her grief. Always focused on building success, Treavor’s never had time for love. His friend’s wedding makes him aware that he doesn’t want to be alone anymore and Chynna is the woman he’s been waiting for.

This wonderful romance is a delightfully cheerful, heartwarming and can put anyone - even Scrooge - in the holiday spirit. This romance has strong, charismatic characters that easily draw readers into their story and the chemistry between Chynna and Trevor sizzles with lots of heat ensuring that resistance is futile. The story has lots of emotional turbulence that flows from the pages and while some is sad, the story is about healing and opening up one’s heart, which warms the heart as Treavor endeavors to convince Chynna that he’s worth the risk.

The plot is steady paced and flows smoothly through a busy time of the year, a wedding and a blizzard which adds some thrilling excitement to the story and that’s not mentioning all the scorching passion of the romance. This charming holiday story has a touch of whimsy and is a perfect one to read by the fire on a cold night and a hot chocolate.

Under the Mistletoe - Deborah Cooke

This was a very cute story about the tattoo artist who instigated three women to seek out their happiness and true love by giving them secret heart tattoos. The story was sweet, steady, passionate, and romantic. Trevor was a perfect match for her and I like that he went after what he wanted. Chynna’s backstory was heartbreaking. It was a very cute and easy read, though not my favorite in the Secret Heart series, but I am happy with how it turned out for Chynna.
