Darkside
Darkside - Dennis Etchison This was Etchison's first original novel and it is a major disappointment. While Etchison is a master of the dark short story, he does not seem to be able to go past 100 pages without petering out. Nothing much happens and it gets boring really fast. If you are new to Etchison, avoid this and go for a short story collection like The Dark Country.

Lord John Ten
Lord John Ten - Dennis Etchison This is a anthology of original writings to celebrate the Tenth anniversary of Lord John Press; a small publishing company based in Northridge, California. It's a pretty damn impressive collection with stories, poems and essays from Robert Bloch, Ray Bradbury, Ramsey Campbell, Raymond Carver, James Crumley, Dennis Etchison (who was also the editor), Stan Freberg, John Updike, Joyce Carol Oates, Jim Harrison, Whitley Strieber, and Diane Wakoski, among others, 26 in all. The edition was limited to 250 copies, is beautifully bound and is signed by every contributor. There is even a page signed by President Gerald Ford congratulating Lord John Press for their ten years in existence! Needless to say, you are unlikely to run across this in the second hand book stores.
