How Many Books Do You Read At One Time?
Murder under Cover - Kate Carlisle
Owls Well That Ends Well - Donna Andrews
The Overton Window - Glenn Beck
Cover to Cover: Through the Bible in 365 Days - John A Carroll
The Devotional Bible: Experiencing The Heart of Jesus - Max Lucado
Mint Chip Murder: A Donut Hole Cozy Mystery - Book 6 - Susan Gillard

It seems that a carry over from my college days is that I will read several books at once. Mostly because I have books everywhere and in two formats....paper and ebook. I have a book upstairs by my bed, a book that is in my car, a book in my purse, a book downstairs near my chair. When I have trouble getting into a book (see "The Overton Window") I will start reading other books. The other thing is that the Bible is a work in progress. I am (and have tried many times) to read the Bible in a Year. This year, I am doing better, but I have fallen behind. I find that the books that get read the most or fastest are the cozy mysteries (my favorites). I try to sit and read things that require quiet when I am alone and that is almost never. I have my children that are homeschooled and my husband and just when I start to get into a book, they demand my attention, so I put that aside and then they don't want my attention until I touch it again. So as a curiosity....how many books do you read at one time? Are they all the same genre or are they a mixture? Are they the same media or different?

By:  Joyce Meyer

ISBN:  9781455559954

Publisher: FaithWords

Publication Date: 10/11/2016

Format: Hardcover

My Rating: 5 Stars

A special thank you to Faith Words Center Street and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“Words are powerful. With one word, God can change our lives and we can help change the course of someone’s day. Within one word, we can find encouragement and hope.”

Joyce Meyer, one of my favorites, one of the world's leading practical Bible teachers. A New York Times bestselling author, Joyce’s books have helped millions of people find hope and restoration through Jesus Christ. Each and everyone has a powerful and positive message.

WAKE UP TO THE WORD 365 Devotions to Inspire You Each Dayis a beautiful inspiring book to empower you! A book to treasure and a great addition to any library devotional collection.

A small book with a big message. A perfect size with a positive message to start each day. For those with busy lifestyles, starting from Jan 1-Dec 31, each day features a scripture, one word, and a message. At the end of each passage is a summary or affirmation with a positive thought-provoking takeaway.

An ideal gift for the upcoming holiday season. What better way to begin the new year or your spiritual journey. No matter who or where you are in your faith or journey, or your personal relationship with God.

From sins, mistakes, failures, or your path in life; you can discover a way of living, that will truly satisfy your soul. God has a plan for each of us. Whether you need a fresh start, or a renewed relationship. Each of us could use a positive word to help us navigate the negatives throughout the day.

Each word is powerful and I love waking up with a fresh new message each day. Whether you prefer your devotional time in the mornings or the evenings, each message will renew your spirit. One word for each day of the year, a definition of that word, a Bible verse and a Bible-based encouragement.

If you are looking for a quick word of encouragement, thought for the day, or something to think about, focus, or meditate during the day, it will assure a blessing.

A small, yet powerful book. The beautiful cover will draw you in and the soothing words will capture your heart. Share it with others! You will look forward to rising each morning, with a new special message awaiting you every morning. Like a special Christmas gift, all year long.

The daily devotional includes:
Powerful words to focus on each day
Scriptures and practical advice from Joyce for each word
Encouragement to read and pray every day

My favorite: July 14 "Risk":

"It has been decided by us . . . to select men and send them to you with out beloved Barnabas and Paul, men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Act 15:25-26

"I believe we should live our lives with an enormous spirit of adventure and risk. We only get one trip through life, and I don't want to be old and have nothing but regrets.

We face the struggle between faith and fear. Don't give int to fear of the unknown or of being adventurous-move past it and follow what God places on your heart to do. There will always be critics who tell us our faith is too risky but don't let them cause you to live a small, boring life. you can fully live today by not giving in to fear or by worrying about tomorrow.

If you step up to the plate, you might strike out, but if you don't try, you will never know the joy of hitting a home run!"

Risk: To venture: to dare to undertake.

Flower Face: A Devotional Anthology in Honor of Blodeuwedd
Flower Face: A Devotional Anthology in H... Flower Face: A Devotional Anthology in Honor of Blodeuwedd - Ninth Wave Press,Jhenah Telyndru Excellent compilation of a variety of work on the Celtic goddess figure. Historical scholarly articles, re-tellings, poems, a book review on a related fiction book, poems, songs (with music), there's a little bit of everything. I've had a very hard time finding more than a paragraph or two on Blodeuwedd so I was delighted with this little gem and it answered a lot of the questions I had about her and her story. I really should probably go read The Mabinogion for myself, but it's one of those books that I've meant to read forever and never seem to get around to reading.

Review: The Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotional
The Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotional: Includes 90 Devotions (Berenstain Bears/Living Lights) - Mike Berenstain

The Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotional is a good book for young readers. It appears a collection from different Titles of the Berenstain Bears. It got a Christian theme throughout the book. It is a good one for young children.

If parents want to settle down their children this would be good for them to listen to. Children can learn to read through this book as well. You can read any story that you feel is best for you and your children if you want to.

Each story has a life lesson for children to learn and listen to. It is good for family gatherings.

Wake Up To The Word by Joyce Meyer
Wake Up to the Word: 365 Devotions to Inspire You Each Day - Joyce Meyer
An empowering word each day.
Every day you get a new word. You learn it's meaning, even if you think you may know it already. Then you are given a vignette  of sorts, connecting that word to the Bible. Making you think and evaluate your own thoughts, values and opinions. Finishing it off with a piece of God's word.
Sounds like the perfect way to start every morning that I am blessed to have.
Joyce Meyer's books, even devotionals, always have me questioning myself. You can never be too sure that you know everything, and must always be open to learning. Especially about yourself. Evaluating your moral compass from time to time helps you keep on the right path. I find her devotionals help me do that. I am sure most of you will too.
