31 Days of Tarot 2020: Day 24

Some folks may know that I read and study Tarot and cartomancy. During the month of January, I am doing the 31 Days of Tarot challenge, and I have been posting the prompts over on my blog Alchemical Thoughts. I am sharing now the link to the Day 24 prompt because the prompt is: "Your Top 5 Tarot Books of 2010-2019." The list has the books and links to my reviews of those books. If this interests you, feel free to click the link and check it out. I will be adding the books to my shelf here on BookLikes later.

Also, if anyone else here does Tarot, oracle cards, or other cartomancy, feel free to comment and say hello.

Booknote: Easy Tarot Handbook, with review on the Gilded Tarot deck
Easy Tarot: Learn to Read the Cards Once and For All! - Josephine Ellershaw

On the one hand, the book has some good advice for learners, especially about keeping a Tarot journal and overall for learning how to read the Tarot. Ellershaw offers a step by step system for learning how to read the Tarot cards. On the other hand, I did find some of the card meanings in this book a bit on the lighter side when compared to other books, such as Lyle's, but the meanings still fall within tradition for the most part, thus the book is still useful in that regard.

Read the full review, where I also provide a review of the Tarot deck that came with this book kit, Ciro Marchetti's Gilded Tarot, at The Itinerant Librarian. Simply click the link above.

By the way, if there are any Tarot users, readers, and/or collectors here in BookLikes, feel free to comment and say hello.

Booknote: Tarot Cards
Tarot Cards - Isabella Alston,Kathryn Dixon

This is another small book, an art book of 95 pages showing a variety of Tarot card decks. It's a very nice book to look at. For Tarot card deck collectors, this book may incite their collecting lust a bit. The book starts with an introduction that sets up the book and gives a brief history of Tarot cards. This book looks at Tarot cards as an art form.

Check out the rest of my review at The Itinerant Librarian by clicking the link above. On a side note, the photo that BookLikes is using here is different than the cover of the edition I have, which is shown on my blog post.

Where's The Rest Of It?
The Divination In Wicca - Raven Starwind

Even a luddite like me can see that this is sketchy beyond even bare bones. Barely even enough in here to call it a pamphlet. Do yourself a favor and do a Google search instead.

Lion Hearted ( The Divination Falls Trilogy)
Lion Hearted ( The Divination Falls Trilogy) - Sommer Marsden This could have been a real winner but it had some of the craziest pacing I've encountered in a while. Insta-attraction works fine because magic/mate thing. I liked the chemistry between Tryg & Luke but if there is a life & death situation propelling the story I got annoyed at the endless sex. I think it ticked me off because it was a waste of time when Marsden had some interesting ideas in this beginning of a trilogy. I want to read the next book in the series because Divination Falls sounds like it can become an interesting place but I don't want to set myself up for frustration.
