Decisions
Rescued - Felice Stevens

Ryder & Jason meet and have immediate attraction.  Among the shared interests, are the cute puppies who need love.  Ryder no longer has the patience for someone who is really not into him.  His last relationship was enough.

Jason cannot help how he feels.  He also feels like he never tell anyone how he really feels.  Every time he thinks he can, he chickens out.  Is what he feels for Ryder enough to give him the strength?

This story was very entertaining.  It also had moments where it felt kind of slow.  The family aspect was amazing and I hope we see more of this in later series books.  The characters were an interesting mix and felt like opposites attract.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

BLOG TOUR & REVIEW - Under the Boardwalk (Landmarks #1) by Felice Stevens
Under the Boardwalk - Felice Stevens
Under the Boardwalk is the latest book by Felice Stevens, an author that I have long admired. It's starts with last summer, as our two main characters first lay eyes on each other and want more. The timing isn't right though, so a year goes by. Now we are at this summer.

Alexi is an American, with Russian ancestry. He works for his father at the local custard stand, and dreams of travelling the world. Cam is the busker that Alexi dreams about. He has travelled the world, and found that there was no place like home (sorry, couldn't resist!). These two finally connect, and BOOM!!! We're off.

I love Felice Stevens' way of writing. She wraps you up, and immerses you in the story. This is one of her 'sweeter' books, I would say, although there is some low-level angst in here. One thing I will always be grateful for, is the explanation given to Cam about what the difference is between ice-cream and custard. As someone who grew up in England, custard is a hot, sweet, liquid that goes on top of treacle tart, or jam roly-poly. Not in a cone! I was thankful when the explanation was given as I then understood what everyone was eating!

One Call Away
One Call Away - Felice Stevens One Call Away - Felice Stevens Noah Strauss use to be a popular model but he gave it up after he suffered a tragic ordeal. Now older, Noah is a psychiatrist and a radio host of a gay advice segment. He spends his day and night helping others.

Oren Levitt is lawyer who specializes in estate and trusts. He’s also an orthodox Jew. When he’s coerced into calling into Noah’s radio show as a prank, he feels quite bad. Needing to make it up to Noah, he calls back after the show ends.

From the first time Noah talked to Oren on air, he’s felt invested in helping the man who never identified himself by name, but when Oren suddenly ends the call he doesn’t think he’ll ever hear from the caller again. Then Oren calls after the show ends and apologizes. Noah offers to be a friend to Oren. The two get to know each other but as their association grows, Oren is assuaged with guilt about the truth behind his first call to Noah’s show. When he confesses the truth, Oren thinks he’s ruined everything. Nothing about these two are simple but together they might just be able to come to terms with the issues that plague them.

This was a slow burn romance. There were times I found the story just dragged and it kind of became a little boring. I don’t mean to disparage anyone or to discourage readers from reading this but it just didn’t hold my attention very well. I ended up breaking the reading up into three days (something I don’t usually do).

I liked that the author included orthodox Jews in this story. I didn’t know much about the culture and their norms except for whatever I learned via tv which isn’t a lot. I liked getting to know the characters and gathering their back stories and where they were at the moment in their life. Their interaction with family and the support they received. I liked that the author made a distinction between perception (what we perceive as the truth) and reality (what is truth) when it came to how family and friends felt about each other. I have to say I was curious about Blake and Jeremy’s situation and I would like to read their story. I was also a tiny bit curious about Harlan and if he would turn over a new leaf.

This is only the second story I've read by this author and I think I'll need to check out more of her stories.

A free copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

RELEASE BLITZ, REVIEW & #GIVEAWAY - Embrace the Fire (Through Hell and Back #3) by Felice Stevens
Embrace the Fire - Felice Stevens
Embrace the Fire is the third book in the Through Hell and Back series, and we finally find out what has happened to Brandon. Through fate, friends, and maybe a dash of serendipity, Brandon finds himself at the shelter that was set up after Keith was murdered. Brandon is so close to meeting Ash and Luke, and yet Felice Stevens keeps us on tenterhooks until the perfect time. There is lots of closure needed for Brandon, Ash, and Luke, especially when Brandon's fears come to light. Luke also has to learn that Brandon is now an adult, and is perfectly capable of making his own decisions, whilst Brandon has to learn to accept the love in which advice is given to him. Tash has his own battles to fight, with his fears and vulnerabilities excellently described. His sister also has her say, which causes its own problems. I think that Tash and Brandon's relationship is sometimes overshadowed by Brandon and his brothers, but this is only temporary, and is necessary to the story.

This is fantastically written, and certainly pulls at your heartstrings in Felice's inimitable style. With no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow, this book is a perfect end to the foster brothers' stories. Love all of these stories, and Felice Stevens goes from strength to strength. Definitely recommended by me.

RELEASE BLITZ & #GIVEAWAY - The Way to his Heart by Felice Stevens
The Way to His Heart - Felice Stevens
The Way to his Heart is a small additional story with the MCs from Learning To Love. Gideon and Jonah have been together approximately three months, but Gideon is yet to feel as though he deserves Jonah's love. His restaurant is a success, but he's unsure if he deserves that too. Jonah is aware of his feelings, and wants to show him how much he loves him, instead of just telling him. His plan is to cook Gideon's favourite foods and then propose. Whilst Jonah is planning this, Gideon meets with Jonah's father, and decides to meet with his father to see if he can sort out that relationship, with closure if nothing else.

This is a lovely little story that puts you back in Gideon's and Jonah's life. It is well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. Although fast-paced, this novelette covers everything it sets out to do, with no questions raised about the whys and wherefores as it is all explained. You don't even have to read Learning to Love, although I would highly recommend it as it is a brilliant book. A great addition, perfect for Valentine's Day, with love and laughter. Definitely recommended by me.
