Frog and Toad are the best of friends! They are clever, silly, and funny. This is an easy read for younger students. This book is at a first grade reading level in my opinion, but Fountas & Pinnell classify it as a K which is a level second-grade level. 

After reading this book, I think it would be a fun idea to teach students facts about frogs and toads! There are all kinds of crazy facts about amphibians. For instance, did you know, touching frogs or toads won't actually give you warts?! That's just a myth!

Frog and Toad are Friends by Arnold Lobel. This is an excellent read for beginning readers to read independently. I enjoy the simple and relatable language used in the text as well as the short and easy to follow story lines. Children will be able to improve their reading skills considerably because they can do so on their own and use the images and other text for context clues on any words they may not understand.

I believe this book would be great to compare and contrast. Frog and Toad may be friends but they have very different characteristics that would be great to compare and contrast. This book could also be used to compare and contrast the plot and main events from story to story.

Accelerated Reader Level: 2.9 

A nice collection of stories about friendship. 

Toad is notorious for being kind of a jerk, but Frog really exemplifies what it means to be a good friend. These stories perfectly capture true friendship, not the over the top, lovey dovey stuff that is so common in today's literature and movies for children. They show how true friends accept each other's faults and love each other anyway. Because even a jerk like Toad has his moments.

This book tells the story of two friends that have very different personalities but still remain best friends. Each chapter tells an adventure of the two friends and problems they encounter. I would use this book in group reading for read-aloud reading to introduce chapter books and fluency.

This is a great book to have students read for fun. Most likely I would use it for grades 3-5. This book teaches life and moral lessons that students can use in their everyday life.
