Llama Llama is learning lots of new things at school and making many friends. But when Gilroy Goat starts teasing him and some of their classmates, Llama Llama isn't sure what to do. And then he remembers what his teacher told him: Walk away and tell someone. It works! This story is a way to talk about bullying. A way for children to practice their reading and fluency skills is by have a reading theater. The story can be broken down into different parts for the students. The students can work in small groups or as a whole class. 

Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa by Dewdney is about a young llama going to visit his grandparents. When the young llama arrives he realizes that he forgot to bring along his favorite stuffed animal. His grandparents reassure him that everything will be okay. The llama is happy to be spending time with his grandparents but upset that he doesn't have his toy. I believe that this will be very relatable for students that are in kindergarten and first grade. I'd probably teach a unit on character traits, setting, and book cover identification using all of the Llama Llama books within the series.

. Baby Llama gets all tucked in and his mama leaves the room. He gets worried and when he calls her and she does not come back immediately. He starts a  fit of wailing and weeping, finally bringing his panic-stricken mother running back to his room. After her reassurance, Baby Llama settles and drifts off to sleep.

I would use this in a classroom with an activity where students can color and decorate their own pajamas. I also thing the Roll-a-LLama game would be a great activity.

Llama, Llama Mad at Mama is a great book to get your students engaged. There is a lot of rhyming that will help your students comprehend the book and help with their literacy skills. This book is at a reading level of 1.9 (1st grade, 9th month) based on an accelerated reader leveling system. Teachers can read series of Llama, Llama books if students are interested. A fun activity to do with your students is for them to go shopping (depending what school you are in) or write about an experience of how they went shopping and they wanted something they were not able to get. This will engage them with prior memory and could be fun for students to participate like little Llama did in the book (with teachers observing of course). 

Llama drama ensues as Baby Llama whimpers and whines during bedtime. Mama Llama returns to make things right and help Baby Llama have a good night.

A great book for kindergarteners to read aloud, with repetitive phrases and rhyming words.
