ISAN (International Sensory Assassin Network #1) by Mary Ting
ISAN - Mary Ting

I love Mary Ting’s ISAN (International Sensory Assassin Network). Seventeen-year-old, Ava has a special DNA marker that allows a unique drug known as Helix to enhance her abilities. She is given a choice of remaining in juvenile detention or joining ISAN (International Sensory Assassin Network). After being captured by a rebel group she is told that her life is a lie. She has no idea who she can trust. This dystopian novel is suitable for young adults.

ISAN reminded me of a combination of the television series Alias (2001-06) and the Matrix movie series. It is creative, full of action, and mysterious. I like Ava. She has some interesting powers like being able to store architectural blueprints in her mind to help her on her missions. She is a good leader. She has had a difficult life. I like that she is strong-willed.

The plot was amazing. A lot of interesting twists occur throughout the novel. ISAN was skillfully written and thought-provoking. The story had a captivating ending. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book to science fiction lovers. ISAN would make a great movie or television series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

My Review

I thought the book was pretty good. I have never read the first series with Michael and Claudia, so I will definitely have to later down the road. I thought the main character of Lucia was an okay heroine, but it took awhile for me to start to warm up to her. I really loved her brother Zach and there guardian Davin a lot. Davin was so freaking funny and kept me laughing, but he also had a very serious side as well.

Lucia is only 17 years old I had to keep reminding myself that, because of some of the stupid stuff she does in the book. Plus she hasn't liked in the human world, or liked a boy, until she meets Eli, so she's also dealing with her hormones.

Now Eli I am still not sure about, I really don't know if I like him or not. Or how I feel about him and Lucia as a couple. Sometimes his such a jerk to Lucia, and he seems like a know it all.

I thought the book was very interesting especially the ending, which ends in a very big cliffhanger. So I am looking forward to the rest of the series to see however is going to turn out for everyone. Oh before I forget, which I would hate ,is if I don't talk about Lucia's best guy friend and another one of my favorite characters, which is Jack. I really love that he plays a big part in things that are going on, in regards to the plot. I just freaking love this guy, his just so awesome to me. I love that he is there for Lucia, and even though he likes Lucia as more than a friend, he knows that Eli is the one Lucia wants to be with. And he still wants to be in her life, if only in a best friend.

Thanks to all parties involved that picked me to take part in the book tour for this book, after I requested for it.

Good little introduction for the new series!!!!!
The Angel Knights (The Angel Knights Series) (Volume 1) - Regina Wamba,Mary Ting

I really thought it was a good introducing for the series. I never read the first series with Michael, and Claudia, which is called Crossroads. I do own the first book just haven't read it yet. There really isn't a whole lot to review about this one. Even though it does set up the new series, that looks like it's going to be interesting. In the new series it's going to be about the children of Claudia and Michael, as well as their Uncle Davin, whom is going to be there guardian.

In this book we find out that the new series is going to deal with trying to find out who are taken some missing teens and why. The main characters will be Uncle Davin, ( whom I really love, because his super funny), Zach, and who I will be the main character and that is Lucia. And from what I read about her already is that she's going to get herself in a lot of trouble, because she reacts before she thinks. I really believe that because she has a big heart and what's to help the people she loves.

I already started to read the first one in the series but my review won't be up until my part of a book tour that I am taking part of. So you'll have to wait until the middle of the month to find out what I thought about the first book.

Prequel/Novella

Michael and Claudia’s decision to move back to Crossroads was to keep their children safe, but they can’t escape who they are. Their children, Zachary and Lucia, were destined to be demon hunters—Venators. From the age they were able to hold a sword, they were trained to become the best and to ensure they would become leaders one day. All is peaceful throughout the land until the Fallen and demons’ presences were felt in the between and on Earth. As the Venators investigate these locations, they will quickly learn how dangerous their lives are. Hearts will be broken. Teammates will lose their lives. And they will face obstacles which will test their faith. As danger grows, the fear of fallen angels and demons regrouping has the Divine Elders on pins and needles. Now, Zachary and Lucia, along with Uncle Davin, must prepare themselves—mentally and physically—to live on Earth to investigate where the focal point of evil resides before it’s too late.

The Blessed Knights

The Angel Knight Series Book 2

Above a small hill lay a home. And green men peer out under the dome. Thirteen crisscrossing arches behold, with angels singing must be told. Cubes like teeth thus showed, pierce one and the door shall glow. Part the sea like Moses, to see the bundle of red roses. Only then you shall see, what is destined to be free. Eli, Lucia’s half-demon love interest, has been stabbed with a true-cross dagger and captured by Cyrus, master of the possessor demons. The Chosen Knights must work together once again not only to save Eli, but also to decipher a clue to find the second missing page of Jacques de Molay’s journal. Meanwhile, Uncle Davin informs Crossroads’ Divine Elders of the danger ahead and learns there is much to fear. Countless children are being taken from all over the world to be turned into demons. Michael, one of the Divine Elders, has no choice but to intervene. The Chosen Knights track down Mortem, the demon who is the key to finding Cyrus, and learn they must travel deep into the pit of a Hawaiian volcano. When they astral travel to the past in search of a clue and follow Jacques de Molay to Rosselyn Chapel in medieval Scotland, what they find will rewrite history.

Though it seemed impossible, in no time he stood in front of me. He appeared like a ghost, then became translucent, and then took on the form of black mist outlining the shape of his face and body. The beauty and the mystery of this supernatural being hypnotized me. As his entity flickered in and out, a soft wind lightly tousled my hair and caressed my body. To my surprise, an incredible warmth filled me. I gasped, unsure of what to do. I should be deathly afraid of the unknown, but I wasn’t. His stare never faltered. It reached to the depths of my soul as he breathed in the air of my existence, and I his. He smelled like a mixture of sweet coconut and the freshest greens of nature. As his lips moved closer to mine, a cool mist floated out of his mouth, then back in, and I felt my body levitate, feeling weightless as a withered leaf falling from a branch swaying with the autumn wind. Eli’s dark, menacing eyes told me he was dangerous. Something wicked ran in his blood. I sensed it with every angel instinct in me. Yet, at the same time, I sensed something good. How could I feel both at the same time? Then a strong urge forced me to close my eyes. When I opened them, he had vanished. He was sitting with his back to me again, as if what I had experienced was only a figment of my imagination. What the heck just happened? “Lucia? Are you okay?” I heard Jack’s voice, snapping me out of my trance. “Jack? Did you see? Was he just...?” Jack had no idea what I meant. I stopped asking him questions, realizing some kind of supernatural activity had happened. Stunned by how easily Eli had controlled me, he was...what?
