Tuck Everlasting
Tuck Everlasting - Natalie Babbitt

Tuck Everlasting is a very interesting book. It tells the story of a young girl who met a family that has the secret to living forever. Along the way, she is kidnapped, put in danger and forced to make tough decisions. This book is full of adventure and mystery that students will enjoy. I would use this book to get students thinking about if immortality is a gift or a curse. The students would write a persuasive essay with the goal of persuading everyone to believe in their point of view.

YOU CAN LIVE FOREVER!
Tuck Everlasting - Natalie Babbitt

Tuck Everlasting is a great chapter book for fourth or fifth grade students. This book addresses many issues about kidnapping, secrets, and magic. Students will have to break down the books by chapters and take notes as they are reading. In the book a young girl name Winnie Foster, discovers a family drinking from a well that makes them live forever. By the end of the story a frog is destined to live forever because Winnie decides not to drink the magical water.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
Tuck Everlasting - Natalie Babbitt

Once again, a great book that I clearly remember reading in the fourth grade as a class and I was completely engulfed in each chapter trying to figure out what was going to happen next. This is a great read for any teacher looking for that book of an adventure to really keep students engaged in what is happening in the story. All you need to know is there is magic, adventure, and a lesson in what looks great on the surface, isn’t always that great. This would be a great novel to use during guided reading as well. Also to teach a lesson on the story elements of setting, problem, solution, theme, etc.

Tuck Everlasting
Tuck Everlasting - Natalie Babbitt

Tuck Everlasting is a story about a family, The Tucks, that have a very special secret. The main characters, Winnie Foster and Jesse Tuck meet one another and Winnie is taken by the Tucks family. Winnie is told the secret, the Tucks will live forever, and is sworn to secrecy. The book goes back and forth with Winnie having to make the decision whether to drink from the same place to become immortal or to live her life normally.

This is a great book for students to write about their opinions and their feelings throughout the story. Students can make predictions about what they think will happen and then find out if they are right or wrong. This is a great story to use for writing prompts that is an interesting read to all ages.

Tuck Everlasting - Natalie Babbitt

Time drags by for Winnie Foster, an eleven-year-old girl who lives in a house bordering the woods owned by her family. Winnie spends her summer days under the watchful eye of her grandmother. Most of the time it's too hot to be out in the sun, and when Winnie does actually venture outside, she never goes beyond the fence of the yard. This book is about a young girl who gets kidnapped and then adopted into a family. This book could be used in a classroom to discuss changes and new experiences. Students can write a journal entry on how the felt during this new experience and how it affected their lives.
