Taken
The Penthouse Pact (Bachelor Pact) (Volume 1) - Cathryn Fox

Parker Braxton AKA "Brax" to his friends, ran literally into Layla.  He thinks she makes the best coffee in the world, and wonders why others cannot do it right like she can.  Now, he feels responsible for her and wants to take care of her.  The attraction he is fighting is killing him.  The sparks are sure flying between them.

Layla had no idea that her customer, the famous billionaire himself, knew her name.  When he ran into her - she thought they would both just walk away.  She really does not like others telling her what to do.  She has a dream to get back to.

This book starts out with a bang.  You can feel the tension between the MC's and it just builds from there.  Such a great story with a little humor, heat, banter, and tension.  I think it is a good balance and a great read.  I will give this one a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Review For: The Penthouse Pact by Cathryn Fox
The Penthouse Pact (Bachelor Pact) (Volume 1) - Cathryn Fox

The Penthouse Pact by Cathryn Fox is the story of  Parker Braxton and Layla Fallon.
Layla is a young college student working a full time job and trying to get by.  Parker is a young rich business man who is hard nosed about everything.  But when he anciently hits his car into Coffee Barista named Layla he start showing another side.  Parker and his college buddies had made a pack never to marry and if the do they had to give each a large sum of money.  Parker was so sure of himself but Layla is making him start to feel totally different.  Layla isn't a yes person and isn't really impressed with his money....she just wants to work hard and get through college.
I really enjoyed seeing these two come together.

The Marriage Pact: A Novel - Michelle Richmond

Two and a half star rating.
Alice and Jake, a couple of newly weds sign “The Pact” as they thought it would be a bit of harmless fun. It turns out to be a mysterious, sinister group with rules, regulations and punishment if anyone transgresses. The description and start drew me in initially but there were too many details about irrelevant things which interrupted the flow and spoilt what would have been a cracking story. It was an excellent idea and normally this is exactly what I like to read, but sadly I’m just a bit ambivalent about it.

The Marriage Pact ★☆☆☆☆
The Marriage Pact: A Novel - Michelle Richmond

Original heading: The Marriage Pact - progress 0%

Noooooooooooooooooooo I hate first-person-present-tense!

I'm going to wait until after the this first scene to make sure the whole book isn't like this. If so I'm DNFing this and giving it the lowest possible rating.

UPDATE:

The good news is that the FP-present-tense only lasted for the 1st chapter, and the remainder that I was able to read was normal FP-past-tense. The bad news is that, after 6 chapters and 36 minutes of audio (yes I was checking my watch), it just wasn't very interesting. I didn't know anything about the characters except their occupations and their wedding, and frankly didn't give a rip what The Pact was, or why it matters, or what happened to the couple.

DNF at 5%.

Audiobook, borrowed from my public library. Tom Taylorson's performance was okay.

A mediocre reading month...some good...some not so good, some good but long (everything under the sun).  I listened to more books than I physically read this month by far, including a re-listen/read for an old favorite.  I did not read a single arc...I think that's due to me feeling like I don't want to be a guinea pig for new books.  Essentially, that's what you are, after all, which is the price you pay for being able to read books before they come out.  I'm just not sure if I want to do it anymore.
