Reading progress update: I've read 40%.
Against the Ropes - Sarah Castille

So I've decided to turn my recovery period into a romance novel reading binge. I've had this on my Kindle for a little while so I decided to read it now. This started off good and I was really enjoying it until the male main character, Torment, revealed a secret. I love a good alpha male but he is now being way over controlling. I am not sure that I like Makayla all that much too. She seems very insecure. Don't even get me started on the debt collector in this story. It is a bit unrealistic with all the protections consumers have with the FDCPA. He would have been sued and out of a job already. I am surprised that Makayla wouldn't have filed some sort of violation of FDCPA complaint since her best friend is a lawyer. Wow, I never thought I'd see the day where I start ranting about debt collections in a reading update about a romance novel.

Reading progress update: I've read 236 out of 356 pages.
The Other Typist - Suzanne Rindell

I can really see the comparisons to The Great Gatsby but I don't think this book has the same magic that Gatsby did. Rose is supposed to be an unreliable narrator and you can tell that by reading the book. I'm not sure exactly how I feel about Odalie because I feel like I am being lead to dislike her and I don't know if Rose is really telling the true story. As far as Rose is concerned I switch between pity and anger at her.

While reading this I got the feeling that this would make an amazing audiobook with the right narrator. I listened to a sample of the audiobook and man it was not as good as it could have been. The narrator did not have all the emotion in her voice that I felt this book deserved. She just seemed flat and made the story dull. I haven't been that in to audiobooks in a while but this could have been made into a great audiobook that I probably would have loved. I guess I'll go back to reading now before I start ranting more and more about audiobooks.
