SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Fox
SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Fox - Don Mann,Ralph Pezzullo
"We’re not running out of here with our tails between our legs, sir. That’s not happening."

I don't think I've ever disliked Crocker as much as I did when I read this book. Basically I could only concentrate on how reckless, selfish, and just plain annoying I found him to be. He just acted horribly on this mission. His reckless behavior left tons of people in danger and at times he seemed so incompetent that it felt like he was some kind of amateur. He is so obsessed with his job and at saving innocent people that he forgets about his family (nearly abandoning them) but he still feels as though he is doing all that he can for his family and that he is not the problem. In regards to what happened with his family at the end and how he reacted to it I was left thinking "what an ass!"

Now that I've vented enough about Crocker let's move on to the rest of the book. This book had some great action. It starts off with a bang and I loved it. It could be a bit slow in the middle but then things really ramped up at the end. Crocker and his team are left to save the day when something major happens that I thought they would never be able to pull it off. The action in this did manage to outweigh my annoyance and anger with Crocker.

While it wasn't my favorite of the series, it still manages to pack a punch with some high stakes missions. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the galley.

SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Jackal
SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Jackal - Don Mann,Ralph Pezzullo

This was by far the best book of the series. The action and emotions were ramped up in Hunt the Jackal and I really enjoyed it. Crocker and his squad are sent to Mexico to rescue a senator's wife and daughter who were kidnapped by a Mexican drug lord who is called The Jackal. Mexico is extremely dangerous and Crocker and his squad just might find themselves and those that they love in more danger than they ever thought possible.

Towards the beginning of this book something sad happens that I have been dreading for a while now. I don't want to give too much away but I'll just say that the squad and I were pretty emotional for a little while. We managed to pull ourselves together though. The action is this book was amazing and the best out of the series so far. My heart was pounding through a lot of this book and the adrenaline was definitely flowing. I also really enjoyed that this book mentions some Aztec mythology. It was really interesting to learn some of the background on Mexican culture.

I was still pretty annoyed with Crocker when I first started this book but that changed when I really started to get into the meat of this story. I loved that he finally was trying to look out for his father and felt sorry for him when he really started to realize the toll that his job is putting on his family. I felt horrible for him and the rest of the squad when the danger got really close to home. I was definitely tearing up at the end. I look forward to seeing how Crocker and his squad will recover and move on from all that has taken place in this book. I can't wait to read more of this series. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the galley.

Reading progress update: I've read 11% of "SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Jackal."
SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Jackal - Don Mann,Ralph Pezzullo

I managed to pick this book up from NetGalley a week or two ago and have been working my way through the series in order to read this one. This book was published today so I felt like it would be a great day to start this one.

Boy did this start off with a bang. Wow I knew that would have to happen eventually but I just didn't really feel ready for it. I am being very cryptic because I don't want to give any spoilers away. I am really interested in seeing how Crocker and his squad recover from that.

SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Falcon
SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Falcon - Don Mann,Ralph Pezzullo

"By the way, Doc Petrovian told me some of the other people with your combination of personality traits include Al Capone, Fidel Castro, and Jeffrey Dahmer."

"Thanks."

"I'm thinking of sending someone over to your house to see what you store in your freezer."

After being a bit disappointed by the last book in the series I am pleased to say that I really enjoyed this installment. The new mission that Crocker and his squad get called to do is personal for Crocker. The squad is sent on a mission to hunt down a man that had Crocker's wife kidnapped and who was responsible for the deaths of some of Crocker's friends and colleagues. Crocker is dedicated to succeeding and nothing will get in his way.

There seemed to be action everywhere you turned in this book. This was probably the best book in the series action-wise. Crocker and his squad are traveling all over the world and everywhere that they go they end up in the middle of danger. The thing that I've learned by now in this series is that the main members of the squad tend to get injured (at times seriously injured) but if you are someone helping the squad well then look out. You are likely to get certain body part cut off, tortured, and/or killed. Geez no one would help them if they knew about what has happened to those that have previously helped the squad.

Boy was I annoyed by Crocker in this book. It really feels like he abandons his family when they need him the most. His wife experienced something really traumatic and just needs him to be there for her and he has this to say about her:

Two, he was disappointed in Holly. Even though he loved her deeply, she wasn't as available to him as before, and he needed her, which bothered him.

Really? It seems like he only wants them to be there for him but he never wants to have to deal with their problems. His daughter isn't doing well in school, and I don't buy her excuses, and he just brushes it off. His father is also in need of help and Crocker doesn't really want to deal with him either. Crocker was forced to take a break in this book and I feel like he really needs a break to concentrate on himself and his family but he probably won't ever go on another break. If or when Holly finally decides to leave him I will definitely be cheering her on. I just really worry about what would happen to his daughter then.

I am really enjoying this series and am looking forward to reading the latest installment of it. I hope Crocker starts really paying attention to his family before he ends up losing them. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me the chance to read SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Falcon.

Reading progress update: I've read 77% of "SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Falcon".
SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Falcon - Don Mann,Ralph Pezzullo

The action in this book has been amazing but I have to say that Crocker is being an absolute jackass. He is completely ignoring his daughter and his wife. His father clearly needs his help, even though he won't admit it, and Crocker is just too busy for him. His wife Holly has gone through some really traumatic things and really needs Crocker to be there for her. Now that Crocker has experienced a lot and is on a six week break (that was forced on him because he just won't take any time off) this is what he has to say about Holly:

Two, he was disappointed in Holly. Even though he loved her deeply, she wasn't as available to him as before, and he needed her, which bothered him.

And then Crocker goes on to fantasize about a woman that isn't his wife. In the words of Alec Baldwin you are being a "rude thoughtless little pig." What an absolute jerk! Holly is going to end up leaving you and when that happens I will be cheering her on. I just worry about what will happen to his daughter.
