Book Review For: 'Inking the Wolf: A wolf shifter paranormal romance ' by Steffanie Holmes
Inking the Wolf: A wolf shifter paranormal romance (Wolves of Crookshollow Book 3) - Steffanie Holmes

'Inking the Wolf: A wolf shifter paranormal romance ' by Steffanie Holmes is book Three in the "Wolves of Crookshollow" series. This is the story of Bianca and Robbie. I haven't yet read the other books in this series, so for me this was a standalone book.
Bianca grew up in Crookshollow but when she was sixteen she was kicked out of her home after being found with a girl and parting. Bianca is bisexual and her family in not excepting of it so she makes the best of it. But now her Grandmother, June Sinclair has died about six weeks ago and left her the Victorian House that Bianca has always thought would make a great Art House. But her Grandmothers lawyers point out that to accept or get the house Bianca has to be married.
Robbie is her friend who she met about three months ago. Bianca and Robbie have some things in common with their family life and a few other things that have drawn them close. When Robbie suggest that they marry to fulfill the will that says Bianca has to marry a man to inherit the house. Bianca ends up agreeing and they move forward to do so. But we learn that Robbie knows that Bianca is his mate and that he is in love with her. But Bianca thinks of him as just a close friend but after their kiss she starting to see him in a different light.
Exciting story.

Selenium Night: A Werewolf Shifter Romance (ShadowShifters Novel) - Kharma Kelley

Selenium Night (ShadowShifters Novel)Selenium Night by Kharma Kelley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Selenium Night is the first book in Kharma Kelley’s Shadow Shifters series. This is not my first time reading her work and based on my prior experience I went into this book with high expectations. She did not disappoint.

What the story is about.
In this new series, readers meet Adian Bloodlocke and Dr. Maddie Ardelle. Abandoned by his pack. Aidan, an Aristan shadowshifter grew up knowing nothing about his lineage. All that would change when the alpha of the Bloodlocke pack adopted him and raised as his own. Aidan’s new life taught him about family and unconditional love. In spite of this, there were members of the pack who despised him a situation which escalated when he became the pack’s alpha.

Then the unthinkable happened, his pack came under attack leaving death and mayhem in its wake. Now he is on a mission to hunt and capture the responsible party and ensure that pack justice is served. What he never counted on was that during his quest he would find love with the delectable Dr. Maddie Ardelle.

Dr. Maddie Ardelle moved to Brdgepoint Maine, to get the pieces of her life together. Her life lacked excitement. Therefore, the last thing she expected was to get caught in the middle of the ShadowShifter's feud. When the hot and sexy alpha came to her aid, she found herself caught in a world of passion, violence, and a lot of shifters.

The Story
Selenium Night is one of those books which holds you captive from the first page and you eagerly turn the pages because you have to know how the event will unfold.

I loved the world that the author introduced me to in this story. There are two species of ShadowShifters, Aristans created by Arista one of the moon sisters and the Thesians, created in retaliation by her twin sister Thesia. Since this time, both species have been sworn enemies.
ShadowShifters are human souls that were fused with the soul of a wolf. In their natural state they are humans, however they have the power to change in various forms of a wolf. They lived in plain sight of humans, but the humans had no idea they were living among supernatural beings. ShadowShifters are born not made.

The romance was refreshing and well done. It was slow burn, which is not typical for these kinds of stories. This is not shifter story where the hero recognises his mate immediately and lay his claim to her. The hero was drawn to the heroine but had a hard time reconciling his feelings as it was forbidden for his kind to mate with humans. They got to know each other and allowing their love to develop at a natural pace. She tugged at his heartstrings and he had this uncontrollable need to protect her, which proved detrimental to his mission.

Suspense, action and humour were sprinkled throughout the pages of the book, making it a true page-turner.

The Characters

The Characters were well fleshed out. I was invested in them and could not help but root for them. Aidan is strong, determined and protective. His life growing up was hard, but that was until his circumstances changed. However, the pain of the past haunted him. Maddie had experienced her share of hurt and as such was not looking for a relationship. I could relate to her uncertainties regarding her developing feelings for Aidan. She was a likable heroine and it was clear Aidan was so enamoured with her. She is funny, selfless and brave.
They complemented each other. I enjoyed their initial contact, which provided me with some laugh out loud moments.

The secondary characters played an intricate role in making the story a page turner. My least favourite was Kieran, Adian’s adoptive brother. He is a true personification of evil. It was his actions that led to disaster that struck the Bloodlocke pack and he is the one Aidan is hunting.

The one thing I had an issue with is the author’s failure to delve deeper into the forbidden aspects of Aidan and Maddie’s relationship. They go their HEA, but it would have been good to know the effects in the future in light of the fact that Maddie cannot be a shifter.

Conclusion/Recommendation
The story delivered a heart-warming, emotional, suspenseful and action packed read. I do believe this is a great start to the series and I am eager to see what next the author has to offer. Fans of paranormal romance with strong sexy characters will enjoy Selenium Night.

Demon Arms: A Shifter / Sorcerer Romance (The Paranormal Academy For Troubled Boys Book 1)
Demon Arms: A Shifter / Sorcerer Romance (The Paranormal Academy For Troubled Boys Book 1) - Sadie Sins,Sadie Sins I really liked the mate aspect of this all. There was great sexual tension between Wylie and Dorian. It was a fun read and I was never bored, in fact I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the world and character building and learning about the environment and school.

Great Story and Characters
Wolf Slayer - Jane Godman

Most days there was no conflict between being an arctic werewolf and a cop for Kyle. . For eighteen months Kyle Madden had been hunting the serial killer called the Cage Killer who delighted in taunting the cops. Kyle was a detective. Kyle got a call that he believed was the killer and little “ gifts” had come to the station from the killer like human fingers. The cops were heading to Piedmont House were the Kyle hoped to find the serial killer and the victim before the victim was dead. Kyle thought he could smell the killer but he couldn’t tell his team as they were all human and they didn’t know what he was. They were all apart of the Anchorage Police Department in Alaska. The Cage Killer liked privacy and enclosed places. Every other victim/victims had been found underground. She knew he kept her alive to torture her. She was barely alive but she read the papers and watched tv about previous victims. The Cage killer had her. She heard he cut fingers off and sent them to the police . Her name was Marie. The killer didn’t care about gender, ego, or station in life the only thing in common was their striking looks: white blonde hair and brilliant gold eyes which was the coloring of the true arctic wolf. There had been twelve victims so far. Maria hadn’t been reported missing but she explained she had no family and very few friends. Her occupation had been an artist. But she was now missing some fingers. The killer cut off one finger a day and on the tenth day he killed his victim. When Kyle was a cub his parents had been killed by hunters and the alpha of his wolf pack had cast Kyle out to die but a kindly hunter took Kyle in and raised him. When Kyle was fully grown  the hunter set Kyle free in the wild. Kyle’s way of giving back to humans was to be a cop. Kyle believed Maria was an Arctic Wolf and he asked her if she had ever shifted while she was in the hospital. Maria thought Kyle was crazy. But when a man came in her hospital window and threatened to kill Maria with the knife he had she felt something inside her change. Someone was coming and the man went back out the window. Kyle thought the was specifically looking for an Arctic werewolf. When Kyle got back to Maria’s room he apologized and then Maria told him she might have been changing when the killer threaten to kill her . Kyle set it all up that when Maria got out of the hospital that she would go to Dan’s home and Samson would also be there until the killer was caught. Dan and Samson as well as Kyle belonged to the Brotherhood Of The Midnight Sun.

This was an excellent story. I really loved this , the plot was good as was the pace. I loved the action and the mystery. I felt bad of who the killer was. But I had it figured out before the end but that was fine it wasn’t he was brought forward. I love Marie and Kyle together each was there when the other needed them. I loved the closeness of the brotherhood. I loved how everyone accepted and wanted to help Maria. Just another absolutely great book in the series. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

ARC Review: To Touch You (Mates #4) by Cardeno C.
To Touch You: A Vampire Shifter Gay Romance (Mates Collection Book 4) - Cardeno C.

Dear Salvatore Rossi - you're a jerk. A stubborn, selfish, snobbish jerk.

Having said that, you redeemed yourself in the end but only by a hair.

Not much love,

Me

****

This is the fourth, and probably last book, in the Mates series, which I loved. LOVED.

Here we have Yoram Smith, great-nephew of Ethan Abbatt (of Until Forever Comes), who at 7 years old gets a whiff of one Salvatore Rossi, abovementioned jerk, and knows, just knows, he's found his one true mate.

Salvatore, or Sal as Yoram calls him, is a business man, visiting the town near the Miancarem pack to entice Miguel Rodriguez, mate of Ethan, to sell him some land. Miguel has no interest in doing so, and if it weren't for Yoram proclaiming Sal his friend, Miguel might have simply chased him out of town. Except Sal is sick, sicker than he knows, and when his illness becomes terminal, and Yoram finds out, he implores Miguel to save his friend Sal.

So Sal becomes a vampire, and promptly returns to his business, caring not one iota about Yoram.

At 14, Yoram visits Sal in Las Vegas and is told to go home. Go home. By his mate!!

Yeah... I didn't like Sal at all, though I could appreciate that a 30-odd year old man/vampire would be slightly freaked out that a 14 year old boy tells him he's his mate.

So Yoram goes home, suffers alone, but he doesn't give up. He experiences similar symptoms as Ethan had before meeting Miguel, and some pointed questions later, Sal begins to get blood deliveries. Because Yoram is a saint, and just because Sal is a jerkface doesn't mean that Yoram needs to let his mate suffer.

There's some crossover here with book three, In Your Eyes. If you've read that book, you'll remember Korban Keller, who's the Alpha's son, and heir apparent, but whose mate Samuel is the Alpha of the Yafenack pack, and you'll remember what happened there, and what leads to Miancarem needing a new Alpha.

Yoram again steps up to the plate, because he's a fucking saint! He loves his pack, he loves the other wolves, and he wants to do what's best for them. Except that doesn't leave him any time for traveling to Vegas every month to deliver blood.

And then Salvatore Rossi wonders for possibly the first time who might have been bringing him blood, and what might have caused the deliveries to stop, and he travels to Miancarem to investigate. Still super selfish, amirite?

Character flaws of a particular vampire notwithstanding, I loved this book just as much as I loved the other three, though In Your Eyes will likely always be my favorite of the four. A lot of my enjoyment was because of Yoram, who is a FUCKING saint, and also because of Toby, a wolf from Yoram's pack and his brother-in-law, who provides the snark and attitude and humor in this book. He took no crap at all from Sal, he wasn't afraid of the big, bad vampire, and he took zero prisoners when it came to telling Sal what a jerk he'd been all these many years. He had some fantastic zingers, and I giggled a lot when he was on page.

This being a book by Cardeno C., there are also some super hot sexy times (when they then finally happen, OMG), and knotting. Knotting, people, which just gives the sexy times that extra oomph. Mating bites. Bloodsucking while making love. Gah. There is always such emotion within the sexy times, and I think that's one of the author's special gifts.

I was a little bit bothered by the rather abrupt transition from "where's the blood, dammit" to "OMG, I Love You, You're my everything" that Sal goes through, considering that his character was a stupid, selfish, snobbish jerk for most of the book, but I chalked that off to the mating pull doing its thing, and him finally being near Yoram for long enough to actually allow himself to feel it. The jerk.

This is definitely a fitting end to the series, and I loved that the couples from the previous book made an appearance. Well, all but Samuel. It can be read as a standalone, but why would you? Why would you not read all the books in this fantastic series? Exactly.

I will read any shifter book this author writes, ever, and I can hardly wait to get my grabby hands on the next one, even if it'll be a different series. Maybe we'll get another Syphon book next? Sign me right up.

I'm a CC addict, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Just keep feeding my addiction, would ya, CC?

** I received a free copy of this book from its author. A positive review was not promised in return. **
