Have read other works by the author and have enjoyed the reads.
This one starts out with Ashley, a special ed therapist and she needs a man. She is strong and lives on the ranch with Zach her brother in a wheelchair.
The job is still available: work at the ranch and the man riding up on the motorcycle wants it, Stone Hunter. He's done all kinds of jobs, interesting hearing about them all throughout the book.
She needed him to work because if they didn't have ramps for Zach and other things he'd go back to foster homes. They still have not solved the murder of her grandfather... She just wants a Christian man.
Her twin sisters are moving in and one is to be married at Christmas. Love the work she does with the horses for handicap kids.
Stone just wants to find what he left behind and get out of there...
Past events are brought forward and she recalls why Zach is confined to the chair.
He tells the family the truth then he has to leave and he hopes to clear his past before returning... So many leads and clues as to who killed her grandfather...
There is so much more to learn about the characters and their careers, can't wait to read more about them. Handful of characters but easy to keep them straight.
Lots of action and more mystery and the authors other works are highlighted at the end.
I was given the book by the author via Book Fun (The Book Club Network) and this is my honest review

You'd kinda think that a Texas Ranger would be a little smarter than your average bear. Unfortunately, a lot of these books featuring some nameless bad guy seem to have law enforcement heroes who seem...careless?

Ok, so 10 years ago, an armed robbery took place at the diner the h worked at. She was the only survivor, and it was mostly due to being grazed - head - and the addlepated robber not checking. I never really understood why he made the owner drive to the middle of nowhere and killed him elsewhere. The h's parents split up due to dear old dad not being able to handle this, the h's mom got a legal name change (and was able to continue being a vet. Huh). And they reinvented themselves.

The owner's remains have been found and our H shows up shortly after the h gets a newspaper and finds this out. He wants her to undergo hypnosis to see if she remembers anything. She comments that she'd always sort of had the impression the killer knew where she was but since she didn't seem to remember anything, he left her alone.

Undergoes hypnosis, remembers a detail or three, goes home. Ok yes; sex does happen shortly after the hypnosis, and he stays the night after taking her home, but he leaves her there. No-one to watch her or anything.

The killer shows up at the office she works in. She recognizes the tattoo but keeps her cool until well after he's left (and her co-worker comes back from break). She quickly calls H and tells him. He collects her and takes her to his mountain hideaway (that everyone at the office knows about). And then he decides to set a trap. Of course, they go to the pond unarmed and without a phone. He goes back to fetch and well...

We never learn the ID of the killer - there was some speculation that his brother worked with the Rangers but it's never clarified. And even when he's suspicious that there might be a leak, he doesn't exactly make much effort to cover his tracks. And why, if you're setting a trap, would you ever be unarmed, let alone without the phone?

Another good one. Good suspense, and good interplay between Kylie and Bryce. Baby epilogue, though.For a change I actually read/skimmed the sex scenes because they were psychologically integral to the plot.

This is the first book in a new romance series called Texas Rangers: Specials Ops. I loved it!

Elizabeth (Liz) Monahan is a likable character. Though, I wanted to either slap her or shake her on occasion. She is the creative director at Nina Bruno Designs, an up and coming fashion house in Texas. When she steps in at the last minute to showcase the house's latest fashion design, she has no idea what hornets nest she will be stepping into.

Ben Hunter is also a likable character. I must admit that I liked him better than Liz - he didn't annoy me in the least! Undercover as Liz's date, Ben is determined to break open the human trafficking ring that has been smuggling women and girls over the border from Mexico. However, he didn't count on his attraction to Liz.

I had previously read a paranormal horror and a science fiction book by this author, so when I heard that this book was available to pre-order, I bought myself a copy.

I love reading romances such as this one; they are fun, quick reads. I started to read this book and didn't put it down until I had finished it. This story took me on an adventure full of danger and romance. There are several twists and turns in the tale that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. The villain, Carlos Sanchez, is a dangerous man, with powerful men in his employ. However, I would have preferred if he was more "hands on", rather than letting his henchmen carry out orders. But, just as in real life, this character hides behind them to avoid capture by the law. Nevertheless, his presence is felt through the story and sent shivers down my spine. He is not a nice man by any means.

Unfortunately, although I love this story, I did find this book a little formulaic, with a similar premise to other books I have read over the years (and I've read hundreds). Granted, it's not easy to come up with fresh material when writing romances - it's all been written before. However, the vivid descriptions used to describe the characters and scenes brought the book to life. The danger felt palpable and real - this got my heart racing. Speaking of pulse pounding, the heat generated by Liz and Ben's attraction scorched the page. I reached the end of the book with sadness, as I wanted to keep reading. However, I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

T.C. Archer has written a wonderful contemporary romance. I love their writing style, which is fast paced and exciting. I also love the way the story flowed. I have added these two authors onto my favourite author's list and will be reading more of their books in the future.

Due to scenes of a sensual nature that are a little on the explicit side (though not as explicit as some books I have read), as well as some bad language, I do not recommend this book to younger readers under 16. However, I highly recommend this book if you love steamy contemporary romances. - Lynn Worton

You’re not safe was a fairly good thriller that kept me interested but was a tad to long for me. 

The plot itself was good and it kept me guessing.  I thought I had it all figured out because some of the red herrings were pretty obvious but in the end Burton managed to surprise me with the reveal of the killer.  Most murder mysteries, thriller romances I read suffer from a few inconsistences and You’re Not Safe was no exception.  There were a few plot holes which had me questioning some things but for the most part it was ok.

My main problem with this book was its length.  It really started to drag in the middle and there was quite a lot of unneeded information thrown in.  I found a few of the characters povs to be pointless, for example the first victim’s brother has a couple of pages devoted to him.  His pov doesn’t appear again in the whole book and it just served no purpose at all and interrupted the flow of the story.  One thing I did like about this book was that the romance was secondary to the plot.  It was in the background and was nicely done.

All in all the writing was good and the idea great.  I liked the killer’s motive and style it was a little bit different which I appreciated.  The characters were also good despite having awful names.  Tec and Greer were likeable even though they were anti-social.  They were a little moody and blunt but I kind of liked that about them.  They also didn’t go around doing stupid things (normally female characters seem to throw themselves into dangerous situations in books like these).  They didn’t fall in love at first sight either which is always a plus.

You’re Not Safe is not perfect, there are holes to be picked in it if you want to by fussy but overall it is an enjoyable and entertaining thriller romance that ticks all the boxes.
