Reading progress update: I've listened 395 out of 733 minutes.
The Mummy Case (Amelia Peabody #3) - Elizabeth Peters,Barbara Rosenblat

“And I,” said Ramses, feeding the last of the sandwiches to the cat, “wish to dig up dead people. Human remains are de indicators of de racial affiliations of de ancient Egyptians. Furdermore, I feel a useful study might be made of techniques of mummification down the ages.”

Emerson bent a tender look upon his son and heir. “Very well, Ramses; Papa will find you all the dead bodies you want.”

Oh how I love spending time with Amelia and family! This is a much needed re-read of one of my favorites in the series. The Emerson's precocious son, Ramses, joins his parents for the first time during their annual Egyptian excavation season with "de cat, Bastet," in tow. Their arch enemy, the Master Criminal, also makes his debut, setting up the on-going story arc of his antiquities thefts and special interest in Amelia and her family. Sethos, as the Emersons later learn he's called, and "de" young Ramses are special favorites among a large cast of beloved characters. Barbara Rosenblat's narration is superb, too.

I'm reading this for square #17 on the Snakes & Ladders game board: Genre - horror.

The Mummy Case
The Mummy Case - Elizabeth Peters Peabody and Emerson are hoping for a quiet dig season, but with their son Ramses along for the ride, nothing is going to be quiet.. ever!
As soon as they get to Cairo, they are embroiled in a new mystery and Amelia is sure that there is a master criminal afoot. After two murders and some mysterious disappearances of antiquities, even Emerson has to agree that something is going on.

I LOVE these books. Embroiled with history and a little mystery, these books will keep you chuckling as you go through the pages.

The Mummy Case
The Mummy Case - Elizabeth Peters I thought the actual mystery wasn't that great but I enjoyed the rest of the dialogue between Emerson, Peabody & Ramses especially. I think he is so adorable and it's a nice unique character to add to the storyline. I was also glad to see Peabody didn't have as many accidents trying to apprehend intruders only 1 or 2. You would think by now she would know how to get out of bed and out from under the netting but we'll see. If I read another episode with her tangled in the netting I'm liable to throw the whole book away! lol Get it right Peabody! You're smarter then that or suppose to be anyways!

[#BookADayUK] Day 20: My Desert Island Novel
The Mummy Case - Elizabeth Peters

I don't plan to be stranded on a desert island, but my zombie apocalypse novel would probably be a book by Elizabeth Peters, one of my ultimate comfort read authors. Mummy Case is the first book in the series in which Amelia's perniciously precocious son, Ramses, finally gets to play a prominent role. Considering the book also includes a peculiarly peripatetic mummy, an opinionated cat, and some rather amusing religious lunatics, it is the perfect book to cuddle up with while the zombies throw themselves fruitlessly against my quadruple-bolted door.

I reviewed it here, and reviewed the first in the series here.

Missionaries, sinister doings, a pet lion and Ramses.
The Mummy Case - Elizabeth Peters

Last year I started to read the Amelia Peabody series by the late Elizabeth Peters, and discovered that I liked it. In the third book in the series, the Emersons are returning to Egypt, but this time they have their young, precocious son Ramses in tow, along with the cat Bastet. Assigned a distant, unremarkable site to excavate, the digging season starts out uncomfortable, but soon enough there are plenty of eccentricities to complicate matters, from several American missionaries, an overstuffed overbearing German baroness who fancies herself an ancient Queen, and something peculiar about a coffin. But it is Ramses who is the real star of this novel who keeps finding more trouble and dirt than any young child should. Great fun, real archaeology, and a painless way to see the birth of modern Egypt. Four stars overall and recommended.
