The Witch of Duva by Leigh Bardugo
The Witch of Duva - Leigh Bardugo

Nadia is one interesting character!
I really need a copy of Shadow & Bone now so I can keep up with Nadia and what is to come.
This little story gives us an intro into Nadia's world. It's over so fast though that you are left wanting more!
Was also my intro into this author that I have heard so much about. I can see by her style of writing why she is so popular. She knows how to suck a reader in!

The Witch of Duva
The Witch of Duva - Leigh Bardugo Clever story told as folk-tale, very grim, in all senses of the word

200 books in 2014!
Midsummer Night - Deanna Raybourn
The Witch of Duva - Leigh Bardugo
The Too-Clever Fox - Leigh Bardugo
This Wicked Gift (A Carhart Series Novella) (Entangled Edge) - Courtney Milan

I rustled up some novellas so I could get to the magic number of 200!

They were all pretty good, but I have to give major props to Leigh Bardugo - whose stories in the Grisha world were really pretty remarkable.

The Milan novella was really great, as well. The Lady Julia was just all right.

The Witch of Duva
The Witch of Duva - Leigh Bardugo I waited to read this short until after I had read [b:Shadow and Bone|10194157|Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1)|Leigh Bardugo|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1339533695s/10194157.jpg|15093325], because I didn't want any spoilers, and I figured that I'd appreciate the story more after having read the first book, anyway.

Turns out it didn't really matter.

The Witch of Duva is a fairy tale set in the world of Shadow and Bone. Otherwise, the two stories have nothing to do with each other. They don't involve the same characters, or the same plot as the main series.

It was just an incredibly dark and depressing story within the world of the story, a cautionary tale that reads partially like Little Red Riding Hood, and partially like Hansel and Gretel, with just a touch of cannibalism thrown in, for good measure.

And I absolutely adored the short for that.

Blindsided
The Witch of Duva - Leigh Bardugo

Shit. Fuck... fuck.

This is how you take some fairy tale elements and turn it into a horror from an unexpected quarter.
