I can't believe the difference between the details that we know of the Wizard of Oz,  the movie and the book I'm reading right now. The book is far different than anything that we know or even imagined. Some parts are darker than imagined, while other parts have to be continued into one of the next books in the series.

You can even see where other books that took off on this premise, like  Wicked, and  Dorothy Must Die, Oz reboot graphic novel, picked up some ideas. I recommend if you have a chance, to one day re-read this classic series to be surprised that the Wicked Witch or flying monkeys weren't the only scary things.....that there was death lurking around every corner. Sometimes becoming what you have always wished happens during the journey.
