Marc Lamont Hill used 'from the river to the sea, palestine will be free' at the UN. Why is this problematic? It's used as a call to push Jews into the sea, genocide them, and is very, very racist.
His response was, woah, woah, I didn't call for the destruction of Israel - a 'free palestine' from 'the river to the sea' explicitly calls for the destruction of Israel and the denial of self-determination for Jewish people - and that phrase has been used since blah blah for multiple reasons. Fun fact, it hasn't on both counts. And even if it has been, it was co-opted by hamas who does want to murder all Jews worldwide.
Marc Lamont Hill was fired by CNN. Temple University is looking for a loophole to fire him despite his tenure, from what I understand. Everyone is now saying that criticism of Israel isn't antisemitc. It can be criticism that isn't racist. That is not what Marc Lamont Hill did.
So I'm pleased with CNN, regaining faith in humanity, and wish Temple U well on their quest to wash their hands of this vile racist.
