Battle Scarred (BBW Veteran Bear Shifter Romance) - Becca Fanning

Kat is a woman driven by work and a need to succeed to help others. Briggs has been through bias, war, and PTSD. The two are lonely but do not realize it until they spend time together. Kat's love of helping others, sense of family, and wanting to do right made her a wonderful person. My heart hurt for all that Briggs went through. Surviving the danger of Kat's past and Briggs' present added some suspense to the story. I received a copy of this story, and this is my unsolicited review.

Gunfight: The Battle over the Right to Bear Arms in America - Adam Winkler

It had quite a few good ideas and information, but I spent most of my time skim reading past all the worthless political and court jargon or trying to avoid falling asleep.

...[...]

sliced open the (bear's) unprotected chest, peeling the fur back to expose the narrow white and red ribs like the timbers of an unprotected boat. Into the ribcage (the bear) reached, and he plucked our (the bear's) heart, red and steaming, and ate it there...[...]

'That was when Iorek moved. Like a wave that has been building in strength over a thousand miles of ocean, and which makes littler stir in the deep water, but which when it reaches the shallows rears itself up high into the sky, terrifying the shore-dwellers, before crashing down on the land with irresistible power - so Iorek Byrnison rose up against Iofur, exploding upwards from his firm footing on dry rock and slashing with a ferocious left hand..[..]'
