Jane Yellowrock is a vampire killer for hire—but other creatures of the night still need to watch their backs....
When the Master of the city of New Orleans asks Jane to improve security for a future visit from a delegation of European vampires, she names an exorbitant price—and Leo is willing to pay. That’s because the European vamps want Leo’s territory, and he knows that he needs Jane to prevent a total bloodbath. Leo, however, doesn’t mention how this new job will change Jane’s life or the danger it will bring her and her team.
Jane has more to worry about than some greedy vampires. There’s a vicious creature stalking the streets of New Orleans, and its agenda seems to be ripping Leo and her to pieces. Now Jane just has to figure out how to kill something she can’t even see….
Broken Soul is book eight in the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter.
A lot happens in this novel. Many changes, revelations, and secrets come to light.
Early in the series the blood diamond came into play. There’s always someone who knows about it and wants to get their hands on it. Jane has it hidden away for now. The plan was and is to destroy it, but that hasn’t happened yet.
If you are expecting The European Council of Mithrin Vampier’s to show, they don’t make an appearance yet, but our gang is getting ready for their arrival.
As I said a lot happens in Broken Soul to give Jane and her gang a run. Just because our Euro vamps aren’t here yet, doesn’t mean they aren’t planning and interfering.
We get a lot of developments in Broken Soul. Eli and the Kid, Alex, continue to be fun and an entertaining presence in Jane’s life. They are changing her and becoming family. Jane and Beast also go through some changes and character growth. Then we have Bruiser our love interest. I wasn’t sure on him, but I did/do like him so much more then Rick. Rick is and will always be a dush. I’m happy to say I like how Bruiser is winning Jane over and focuses on both her natures not just one or the other. He truly sees her.
Broken Soul was an entertaining and enjoyable read. I took a break from this series and after reading a little short story in the world I felt it was time to dive back into Jane Yellowrock and see how things turn out for our gang. I wasn’t disappointed.
