Like a fine wine ...
Wyrd Sisters - Terry Pratchett
Wyrd Sisters - Terry Pratchett,Celia Imrie

... the kind of book that only gets better the more often you return to it.

I've revisited Wyrd Sisters three times in the last two years alone, and every single time I'm savoring every single minute of the experience.  Definitely one of my favorite Discworld novels -- next to its sequel, Witches Abroad, and of course the inimitable Hogfather.

Just gotta love the three witches ... and Verence, too.

Halloween Bingo 2019 PreParty -- Question for 08/09 (Day 9): Book Suggestions for the New Squares? Part 1: "Paint It Black"
Complete Tales and Poems - Edgar Allan Poe
Wyrd Sisters - Terry Pratchett,Celia Imrie
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Gryffindor Edition - ROWLING J.K.
Black Roses - Jane Thynne
The Bride Wore Black - William Irish,Cornell Woolrich
The Raven Tower - Ann Leckie
The Signalman: A Ghost Story - Charles Dickens,Simon Bradley
The Poet - Michael Connelly
The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Original Movie Script - Jim Sharman,Richard O'Brien
The Godfather - Mario Puzo

Today's prompt is for favorite horror reads; that not being much of my thing (outside, perhaps, the gothic classics and anything more edifying or funny rather than scary), I think I'm going to leave that prompt to Char, Bark's Books (aka Bark at the Ghouls), and the site's other horror fans.  Instead, I'm going to catch up on the prompt from the day before yesterday -- I'm really, really excited about the new squares.

This is going to be another multiple-post reply ... because come on, these covers are just too beautiful not to give them a space of their own!

Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett (audiobook)
Equal Rites - Terry Pratchett,Celia Imrie

Series: Discworld #3

I'm sticking to my original rating because although the book is somewhat entertaining and there are definitely Prachettisms peppered throughout, it's basically the appendix of the Discworld. It's a mostly forgotten appendage to the Discworld cannon that only ever gets referenced via Granny Weatherwax having been to Ankh-Morpork previously. I also have trouble relating to both Granny Weatherwax and Esk in this story, which doesn't help.

I wasn't a fan of Celia Imrie's performance here. I liked her narration of other Discworld books but Simon's constantly congested voice and her weird "ooks" for the Librarian got on my nerves.

"For Simon, the pollen count always went to infinity."

Snicker. Poor Simon.
