Dirty (Chicago Underground #5) by Skye Warren
Dirty: A Bad Boy Romance (Chicago Underground Book 5) - Skye Warren

Shelly is a very tough heroine. She doesn't want your pity. Yes, she is a hooker and she has done something things she isn't proud of, but Shelly is a survivor. In Dirty, she learns a lot about her past and that she might not have ended up in her position by accident. Shelly teams up with Luke to go undercover to to track down Henri. Shelly wants him dead and gone. She knows that this is the only way she will ever be free of him. Many of Luke's secrets are revealed in this part of their story. We also learn more about Luke's background and why he became a cop.

If you are a fan of Skye Warren, this is a book that you will enjoy. This is a different type of dark romance. This story's darkness comes from the lives of the two main characters in Shelly and Luke. They both have had a tough life and are still living the lives that those pasts have given them. The sex, while not as dark as some of her other work, is still written very well and with a lot of passion.  This series is written as a group of serials, with this being the middle part of the second story. I'm very excited to share the details of the final story of Shelly and Luke.

Wild (Chicago Underground #4) by Skye Warren
Wild: A Bad Boy Romance (Chicago Underground Book 4) - Skye Warren

Wild starts the story of Shelly. It takes place a little while after the end of Fierce. Shelly is recovering from the showdown that happened in the previous book. She has also been out of the life of prostitution that has been the only life that she's ever know. Shelly started down this road to help her friend Allie with her child.  She made a lot of money at it.  She even became the live-in mistress of Philip, Colin's crime boss brother.

Here we see how even though Shelly has been putting on a brave face for everyone about her career choice, it is not something that she enjoys. The truth of the life comes out when she tries to apply for a job at a local bookstore, only to find out that the manager is a former client.  The horror that she faces in that she will never be able to find a "normal" job.  She spends time finding very young girls who are just starting out in the life and taking them to a shelter to help them.

Then her pimp comes to her "secured" apartment and makes her an offer that she can't refuse to work a party. When things go wrong at the party, Shelly escapes with another young girl who really didn't want to be there. They run to Luke, a detective that Shelly helped during Allie's story.

This is a great start to Shelly's story. I'm very intrigued to see how things work out between her and Luke. You can really see how much they want to be together, but how difficult it would be for both of them.  Plus, you add in Philip with this new girl Ella. That adds a whole new level of creepy to the story. It will be interesting to see where that storyline goes. Ms. Warren knows how to keep you on your toes, that is for sure.

Review: Fierce (Chicago Underground #3) by Skye Warren
Fierce (Chicago Underground Book 3) - Skye Warren

This is the final part to Allie's story.

The best part about the wrapping up of this series is seeing how Allie has grown as a character. When we first meet her in Rough, she is barely coping to survive in the world with her daughter. In Hard, we watched her grow some, but still very vulnerable to Colin and his deceptions and manipulations. By the end of this Fierce, she has truly become a woman of her own. She has learned to be her own person.

While this is the end of Allie's love story, it is not the last we will see of her.  The next three books in the series will focus on on Allie's best friend Shelly.

Review: Hard (Chicago Underground #2) by Skye Warren
Hard (Chicago Underground Book 2) - Skye Warren

This was another great book in the series. I was grateful that I didn't have to wait long to start this story after finishing the first one. In this story, Allie has moved in with Collin. Things seem to be moving up for her. She finally has a safe place for her daughter, Bailey. Collin is willing to do anything to keep the two of them safe. The issue is that Collin isn't legal.

When Bailey's biological father shows back up, Collin is prepared to do whatever is necessary to keep Bailey with her mother. We also learn more about the events of Allie's past. Collin is still a large mystery. Between Allie's difficult past and Collin's secretive nature, it is easy to see why there are some trust issues.

Collin is also the subject of an investigation with the police department. When the police show up and start questioning Allie, she is in a tough spot. Between some information she receives from the police and Allie wanting to protect Collin. Her trust issues aren't just with Collin, but with pretty much everyone, including the police.

The love scenes between Allie and Collin are wonder. They are well written and passionate. The battle between meeting Allie's need for pain and Collin's need to pleasure wars throughout the scenes. You can really see how he wants to be tender, but also wants to give her what she needs.

I'm really loving this series. I will say that this reads more like a serial than a book of novellas. So you will want to be ready to read the first three books pretty close together. I haven't start the four, fifth and sixth books in the series yet. I'm betting they will read the same way with the story of Shelly.
