HS Classification Code List India

HS code is the Harmonized System (HS) of tariff nomenclature. It is a
standardized system of code that is used for export and import
products/goods internationally. It came into existence in the year 1988 and
has since been created and maintained by the World Customs Organization
(WCO), an independent intergovernmental organization with over 200
member countries.

The HS code is organized logically as per the economic activity or
component material. This means classification as per different sections like
the vegetable products found in one section, mineral products in the other.
Henceforth, the HS is organized into 21 sections, which are subdivided into
98 chapters. The 98 HS chapters are further subdivided into 1244 headings
and 5224 subheadings.

The code read for any product is the same up to 6 digits in all countries but
later varies from 8 to 10 digits. The first two digits designate the HS
Chapter. The second two digits designate the HS heading. The third two
digits designate the HS subheading. At present about 95% of the trade over
the world economies as done based on the HS code.

In India, they are well known as ITC (HS) code i.e. Indian trade
classification based on the harmonized system of coding. It was adopted in
India for export-import operations. Indian customs use 8 digits of ITC (HS)
code to suit the national trade requirements. The ITC (HS) code is divided
into 2 schedules; schedule1 ITC (HS) Import and schedule2 ITC (HS)
Export.

Export and Import data Solutions offers harmonized system based export
and import data for India. You can find the HS code of the desired product
of India and list of HS Codes chapter 01 to 98. Apart from HS code, Export
Import Data Solutions also provides import and export data India
