"The Christmas Creature" by Erin Kubo

A short little Christmas story (5 tweets, 15 images). I'm not really a Christmas person and haven't been in years, so this bit of creepiness works perfectly for me. I particularly like the Christmas Warning and dog images.

The Hatching Review!
The Hatching: A Novel - Ezekiel Boone

 http://angelerin.blogspot.com/2016/06/the-hatching-by-ezekiel-boone-arc-review.html

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for providing an ebook copy of The Hatching By: Ezekiel Boone in exchange for an honest review!

So let me begin this review by saying that I am terrified of all bugs and insects. Including spiders. SO why did I pick The Hatching to read? Because I love horror. I love to be creeped out and scared. As long as creepy crawlies stay away from me in real life.

The Hatching takes a little bit of time to set up, but then it gets good. Really good. This is not the most action packed novel, but what action it has really makes an impression. For example some parts had me screaming, "Ahhh and Ewww and No, no, oh my god, no!" If spiders creep you out at all then this book will terrify you. I saw a small spider in the house later that night when I finished this book and I almost just decided to set the house on fire.

My skin is crawling even just writing this review. I had no idea that it was possible to be even more terrified of spiders. I don't think that The Hatching will be everyone's brand of horror, but I think the apocalyptic and sci-fi side will attract a lot of fans as well. The style of the novel kind of reminded me of World War Z (which I didn't finish because that one bored me to tears and I tried twice), but it worked for this book. It has multiple POV's that it follows, but not too many so that it's hard to keep up with. I liked most of the characters, but I do have to say that Mike and Melanie are my favorites.

Overall The Hatching is a book that creeped me the hell out. It's an engaging read and written very well. This book will leave you feeling uneasy and creeped out, even if you don't have arachnophobia. I hate spiders, but I loved this novel and I can't wait for the sequel!

I recommend The Hatching for fans of World War Z and for horror loving arachnophobes. My husband is also frightened of spiders and by the end of the book I kept telling him that he has to read this!

Top Ten Creepy Books for Halloween

Max here! Right in time for Halloween, here are a couple of books to make your Halloween a little bit more fun (and by fun I mean scary). I'm not a big fan of horror books, so these books are more suspenseful or a little bit creepy than full on scary, but I still think they're capable of giving you the goosebumps.

See the original post for the perfect books to make your Halloween more creepy.

REVIEW - The Faerie Guardian, Creepy Hollow #1
The Faerie Guardian (Creepy Hollow, #1) - Rachel Morgan

Let me begin by saying that I love the cover of this book. It is what initially drew me in. I will be honest and say that I looked at the cover, looked at the goodreads genres it contained, and hit the 'Buy now with 1-click' button without reading what I was getting myself into. Such a terrible confession right? But I am glad that I did it!

I have a thing for books that are fast paced, and this book, starts out with a bang. Instantly in a fighting scene! I loved it. Never once was there a dull moment, and I kind of didn't want to stop reading. In fact, I had to go to the restroom about seventy percent of the way through and refused to do so. So that's saying something.

While I am not usually a big fan of reading books on the computer - I don't own a kindle so I use the kindle for PC option - this was one book I would read again despite this little hiccup.

The characters, especially Violet and Ryn, were realistic. They had their quirks, their mood swings, and their wonderful snarky moments. Unfortunately for mister Nate, I am in love with Ryn. He's so much fun, and I have a thing for male characters who are jerks. So, Nate was overshadowed by him.

This is a book that I would definitely recommend reading, and hey, it's currently free on amazon! What have you got to lose? Give it a try! Go, go, go!

So... this happened...

So, I'm perusing the ARe newsletter and I see this:

Yep... that's right. Who needs dino-porn when you can get spider-porn. Sorry, but this is freakin' creepy. I mean... spiders???? Seriously??? When I see one in my house I actually consider burning the place down so this is just completely beyond my understanding.

BTW, if anyone is strangely curious, this one is free. I'm going to pass. *shudder*
