Beware!! This is a rant rather than a review. If you don't like it or agree with my POV, move on to the other, more positive reviews. Thank you.
2 stars but barely made it. 1 star for Tristan, another for changing the horrendous cover into something bearable.
This was going to be a light and funny, well-written story I was going to enjoy. Having read the author's 2 other books and totally loving them, I had no tension on that regard. The story wasn't badly written at all and I can see why all the 5 stars but I had a problem all throughout. Indeed I would've enjoyed Lingus too had it not been for the top-notch hypocritical heroine. Every time she opened her mouth, she'd say something completely demeaning about the female pornstars who made an appearance, especially after her meeting with the then pornstar hero in question.
Now I'm no feminist, and if my boyfriend was as hot as the hero, if not an ex-pornstar, I would've probably felt the same... who knows. But then again, I don't have a lifelong pornstar friend of MY OWN whom I actually helped achieve that goal (I'm not even going into the extent of the "hows" of it). To think that she'd be more understanding... pfft! So when Kat would call all the female pornstars who have either worked with Tristan (former Robbie Lingus) or she felt may have had a "history" with him, various names-- from whore to slut to etc. whatever-- and then go and call her OWN pornstar friend Zoey "the best person in the whole wide world", I wanted to SLAP THE SHIT OUTTA HER! Very conveniently, Zoey swings the other way, or else I would've loved to see Kat's face if she was one of them either worked with Tristan or made horny eyes at him often. Because, IMO all of Kat's friends were either sluts (hello Nicole!) or touched in the head (yup, Zoe, when she wasn't being a slut). Don't look at me, I'm just following Kat's directions. Really, what would happen if Nicole the maneater made horny eyes at Tristan too, had the author not, again, conveniently paired her with another pornstar at the beginning of the story? Mind boggles!
I was so thoroughly disgusted that it took me months to finish this book. Tristan was such a fun guy, absolutely adored him. He deserved better. I can't see how, with this mentality, Kat is going to be happy with him in the long run. It just doesn't add up, as much as Calum and Nicole's so-called HEA. Yah, right!
And thus, my very sexy "ewww-wtf-was-that" shelf was not dedicated to Tristan or to any other pornstars, but to Kat and her "bitches". Now deal with it!

Ok! I finished Secrets of a Scoundrel, book 7 of Inferno Club by Gaelen Foley after languishing for couple of months, mostly because I’m a sucker for punishment. I know I’ve exhausted this but this series was a disaster full of melodrama, annoying characters with over the top storyline, almost on the verge of being silly. If I say I was disappointed to the point that I’d be thinking twice before picking up her new stuff, it’d be an understatement. It took me 2 yrs. to pick up the series because book 5 blew my mind. It was that horrible. Book 7, unfortunately, had nothing better to offer.
To recap in a nutshell, the series revolves around a bunch of rakehells. The society knows them to be a part of a club called The Inferno Club. They give the illusion that Dante House, where they meet, is their ‘playground’; a den of debauchery. Well, Dante House is a mixture of debauchery and something far more secretive. What the others don’t know is that they’re spies for the Crown; a special breed of spies who were trained since early childhood, sort of ‘sacrificed’ by their families to become a part of an Order; the Order of the St. Michaels. They had an ancient nemesis the Promethean Council. We’re talking about thousands of years of enmity here, the Prometheans trying to unleash their evil on the world and rule it, while the heroes of the Order trying to save it from their clutches.
Apparently, Kitty Thomas's stories aren't for me. I picked this up when I was still absolutely buzzing from another mafia-themed erotica and thought why not this one since I had this on my TBR for long? Then I spend the whole time trying to like anything about the storyline or the characters, over and over again. Unfortunately, there was nothing that I can recommend about this book. The story had no rhythm or rhyme, and the characters, especially the 'hero'... Oh boy! No thanks. I don't like to think myself as a prude but he had no redeeming qualities IMO, especially the OW situation was grating on my nerves so much that at times I wanted to kick on his nuts!!!!
Aka his other subs that he'd bring in his home, and engage with, to taunt the heroine... also that one particular crazy b*tch I couldn't stand at all.
Maybe I just expected way too much.

I’ve never read anything by Isadora Rose before, so when I went into this, I thought, oh ok, short smut. Yet it doesn’t even begin to articulate the ‘sexual violence’ that was cautioned in the blurb.
Don’t think I can even explain just how disturbing and disgusting I found this story. It’s not that I’m a prude, or that I don’t read dark erotic stories. Few, but I have read those. It was not even the writing of the author... Everything about Prisoner of Desire ticked me in the wrong way. Don’t expect any delicious mindf*ck, cause there was none. But if you’re expecting abuse, abuse and more abuse by a jerk, you’re in for a treat!
