Darling Girl - Liz Michalski (#Win Too!)

I love the classic Peter Pan story.
This is not it. This story is dark and twisted, and I loved that!
For the most part, I enjoyed this retelling. It had Peter Pan as a sinister character, instead of the sweet and charming boy. Plus, there was this addition with the Darling family and their deepest secrets.
During the middle of the book the story was more focused on one thing and I almost got bored. Then it careened back to Peter and I was invested again.
I do wish that the ending was as thorough as three quarters of the book. It felt rushed through.
Still, it was a decent read and I would read more from this author in the future.

The Wickeds - Gayle Forman
This is the last short story in this series, and I am saddened at that.
I think they saved the best for last any way.
This had the three of the major fairytale princesses in it. Snow White, Cinderella and Rapunzel. It was basically their lives with a twist! I really enjoyed it too, it was magical and still held key elements of the original fairytale.
Definitely my favorite of the series!
I think fairytale fans should read this set, and it's short enough you can do it in a day!

The Princess Game - Soman Chainani
Not very often where I say the ending was the best part of the story but guess what folks?! It is! Also I didn't like how abruptly it ended and I wanted a different outcome.  Still it was awesome!
This story, I still have no idea what fairytale it's based off, and frankly, I don't care. It was still a great little twisty tale. I love a good murder mystery and this was a good one. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I didn't want it to end though, but that's a good thing!
Probably my favorite of the series so far!

The Princess And The Troll by Rainbow Rowell
A sweet love story of sorts, but I didn't care for the ending at all. I wanted a parade of emotions, and I was left with a big HUH?!
Weird, I've never thought of a female troll before, and now that will be all I can see. When you think of a troll, you think of an ugly being under the bridge. She may have been a troll but that's about where it ended with similarities. You never really got to know if she was ugly or not. With beauty being in the eye of the beholder, it's hard to trust Adam's feelings on it. Since he visited her every day it does make one wonder.
A really cool fairytale, even if I didn't connect it to the original story at all.

Hazel And Gray - Nic Stone
I loved Dear Martin, so when I saw this short story retelling on Amazon Prime Reads I had to have it.
This story is so far up my alley that I feel like it was kismet! My favorite thing to read is fairytales and fairytale retellings, and that's what this is!! A retelling of Hansel And Gretel. Oh, how groovy it was though and so different from the original.I definitely like the twist in this one!
I wasn't crazy about the ending though. I wish after all that goodness in the tale, that it would just pack a bigger punch. It actually felt rushed.
If you like twisted little stories, read this one! I've got the whole collection of this series, and am off to read another one now!
