'Yes, this was suppose to be a hookup, a fling, but he'd learned over the years that his gut didn't lie to him. And he'd felt the difference with Oakley form the beginning.'

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Oakley Easton is a single mother who works hard at trying to give the best to her daughter with special needs and making ends meet. In order to do that, she has needed to take on a night job that she is not really interested in, but for her daughter and the money, she will keep doing it. She works as a phone sex operator and makes sure to keep it hidden from everyone. Since her priority is taking care of her family, she really doesn't have much time to focus on romance. So when the hot as hell tattooed drummer known as Pike Ryland enters her life, she knows he is bad news and doesn't want to go there, no matter how attracted to him she is. But her day job at her daughter's school has them working together. Since she use to be in a girl band and has some musical knowledge, they assign her to work with Pike on a musical project with the children. Resisting him proves to be hard when Pike is persistent in getting what he wants.

"The most honest version of ourselves is the one behind closed doors."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

I really liked Oakley, I loved how hard she worked to take care of her daughter Raegan. She would do anything to give her the best and protect her and I loved that. I loved how sassy Oakley could be. She has been deeply affected by the things that occurred to her while she was in the spotlight in her past. She has been constantly been let down, especially by men. Which is why she was quite distrustful of Pike. She just couldn't do the fling thing that he wanted with her. She knew that she could keep her emotions out of it. But Pike was so charming and sexy, it's really not that hard to fall for him.

I really loved Pike. Holy cow was this man hot. He was intense, possessive, and dirty. What was there not to love. Pike wanted to hook up with Oakley. What he didn't expect was that with each moment he spent with her trying to get her to give in, he would end up falling for her and wanting so much more. My heart just melted with how sweet he was with Raegan and Oakley. I loved how much he cared for them. I also loved his kinky side so freaking much. His dirty mouth had me hooked. He was just really awesome.

'When she'd said she was his, he'd wanted it to be true. The desire to claim her had been potent and absolute.'

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

This book has some scorching hot sex scenes that will make your panties melt. It had some kinky elements to it that made it so much more hotter. The romance was really well done as well. It wasn't just about the sex so I was really happy about that. The only things I didn't like so much was how long it took Oakley to realize that what Pike was feeling was real. Because of this, she would sometimes annoy me. I liked her, but didn't end up loving her. Pike I totally ended up loving. Raegan as well, she was such a sweetheart. I enjoyed the story very much. This was my second book by Roni Loren and it did not disappoint. If you love cocky and sexy tatted musicians with a penchant for dirty sex, than this is for you.

“Hey, Jojo?” he yells.

“Yeah.” I yell back.

“I’m going to marry you someday.”

It's been a decade since Liam broke Josie's heart. She has tried her best to move on. He is now a rockstar and quite successful. Josie is the owner of a flower shop. Just when they think they will never see each other ever again, a tragedy brings them together. Liam finds out something huge that impacts him. He isn't going away and in the process, he hopes to get his girl back.

Her tear-streaked face is beautiful. I want to wipe away her tears. I want to take the last ten years and erase them. I want to start over.

As soon as I started the book, It was already hitting me in the feels. It was heartbreaking how they went their separate ways. I felt for Josie and the way Liam just left. I was happy that she was dating a good man that who takes care of her and her son. She is doing good with her flower shop. She has a good life, one anyone would be happy to have. And still, she has those moments where she can't help but think of Liam. I understood Josie's dislike of Liam completely, when he returned. I would be pissed too. I liked how she handled certain situations when it came to her son Noah and Liam. However, I think she could have done better when it came to her boyfriend Nick.

I thought for sure we’d spend forever together. I thought our love was one of a kind. I would almost be okay if he had met someone else and fallen in love, but he didn’t. He just left.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

At first I didn't know what to think of Liam. I was so freaking hurt with the way he left her with no explanation. The more I read, though, the more I started to like him. I loved how he was with Noah. It was so adorable. I didn't like so much how he would confuse her about her feelings while she was still in a relationship with her Fiance Nick. Which is why, I am so glad that Josie didn't just fall at his feet with love, but instead it happened slowly. Liam was overall a great guy, but he was a total idiot as young man and still kind of was in the present. He would let others influence his decisions. It happened when he left, and again with his PR lady Sam.

“I love you, JoJo. You're forever my girl.”

I enjoyed the secondary characters in this book. Especially Katelyn who was so supportive and strong. I actually admired her for being that way after the loss of her husband Mason. I loved her twin girls that were such cuties. And Noah was so adorable and just full of life. Nick I liked but could be a bit of a jerk too. Nonetheless, I got where he was coming from. It must of been very hard for him to know he was losing the woman he loved. The story was a light with a few emotional moments. Very low in steam with there being only one sex scene that wasn't too descriptive. I loved the flow between past and present. I think it worked well without becoming annoying. I didn't like the reason Liam left, which we find out near the end. I think it was a stupid reason. The ending was sweet and tad bit cheesy. Overall, it was a good read and one I recommend when you want to read something that isn't full of angst and drama. It's definitely an 'inbetween books' read you should check out.

Review: Who We Are By S.Q. Williams
Who We Are - Shanora Williams

For some reason I didn't like this one as much as the first one. I didn't get why things ended the way it did in the first book when I new there was a solution to it all. But they made things difficult for themselves. When I started this book, it hurt to read any scenes with Eliza and Gage. It was just painful. I got annoyed by Gage, he seemed so different in the first book. Now, he seemed slightly weak. I understood his reasons for doing things (which I applaud him for, he made sacrifices), but damn, that killed me. Again, they made decisions instead of looking at ALL their options.

Eliza, I started liking more because she grew up. She finally realized she needed to fight for what she wanted, which is what I wanted her to do from the start. She also changed in the way she presented herself. In the first book, she seemed a bit meek but now she was confident and strong. I loved that.

There were many boring parts in this book. It felt like it was dragging things on a bit. There were some great scenes between Eliza and Gage near the end. That's when I started liking Gage again. I liked the fact that the secondary characters played a bigger role and that we got to learn a little bit about them. I still want to know more about them, though. I really liked the camaraderie between everyone in this book.

The ending was really sweet. I was happy for them and it made me smile. Overall, I enjoyed this book. I even liked that Gage's sister was in this one, but I still think the first book was better to me. I enjoyed it more. This one just dragged on. But I am happy with how things ended for them.

Review: Who He Is By S.Q. Williams
Who He Is (FireNine #1) - S. Q. Williams

♥♥♥ 4 STARS ♥♥♥

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“Sometimes it's the ones closest to us who can destroy us the most. Sometimes it's friends... family. It's not always a romantic relationship that can leave us with a broken heart.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

When I first started this book, I was excited because I love stories about wild rockstars that fall in love. This one kind of hooked me in from the beginning, I instantly loved the chemistry bewteen Eliza and Gage. I was addicted to the sexual tension between these two. But soon after, I was getting frustrated with them. Some parts felt like it was dragged on a bit. Then other parts were just really good.

Eliza has had a tough childhood, if you can even call it a childhood. Her mother never cared about her, and let her get physically abused, but not in the sexual sense. Eliza isolated herself, not letting anyone in. She wanted normal, and to feel safe. She finally moved in with her homosexual father Ben, who happens to be the manager of FireNine, a rockband. Ben tries to get her to come out of her shell. He invites her on to go on tour with them before heading to school. She reluctantly agrees, eventhough she doesn't want to be near Gage. A guy she has had a crush on for the longest time. Now, he seems to be interested in her. She tries not to fall for him. He insists on pursuing her. And so, the cat and mouse chase begins.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"I know you love me, Eliza," he whispered. "I love you. I'm in love with you. And tonight I wanna prove it."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

I liked Eliza at first. I thought she was kind and quiet, but an overall good person. Her past has affected how she handles things. She has changed and doesn't want to be that angry person she once was. But she did annoy me at times. She would be so immature, and childish. She would do things or say things without thinking about the other persons feelings. Then, there were times, she was just plain awesome, understanding and really smart. I liked that she made Gage work to get her. So I liked her, then I didn't, then I did, then I didn't. It kept changing throughout the book. But for the most part, I did actually enjoy her and her passion for her art.

Gage is the lead singer, guitarist and lyric writer from FireNine. He has also had a troubled upbringing. One he tries to hide from everyone. He covers up his pain in music, booze, and women. That is the only thing the numbs he feelings. Then he meets Eliza, his manager's daughter and he instantly wants to know her. She is different from any other girl. She makes him feel again. He relentlessly tries to have her, no matter how many times she pushes him away to just be friends. He knows he isn't good enough for her, but he still tries anyways.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"Just think about it, Eliza. I know you're scared I might hurt you and forget about you, but I promise I'm trying. I promise I won't. I know I can give you the world and more if you want it. I'll work hard to keep you happy."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

At first, Gage confused me. He would go after Eliza, which I really enjoyed, and then when anything sexual would start to happen, he didn't want to go any further. I didn't get it or what exactly it was he wanted from Eliza. They later agreed to just have a fling and nothing more. But he slowly started falling in love with her. He made my heart ache, and swoon so bad. He could be so freaking romantic. But my goodness, how he pissed me off too, when it came to this chick named Penelope. I loved him and got annoyed by him. Just like with Eliza, my feelings about him kept changing throughout the book.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"You don't understand how much I need you around me. I need your smile, your grace... your love. I need everything about you in order to be happy (...) Please. Follow your heart, Eliza. You love me! Don't let this go."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Then there was the ending... Oh. My. God. That freaking ending! I never thought I would see Gage that way. It hurt me so bad. And even though I understood Eliza's reasons, I didn't get why things ended that way. That cliffhanger killed me. I wanted to hug and kiss Gage, and for Eliza to do something. The last few percents of the book was full of drama and angst. It was like everything really exciting got crammed into that ending. Which, wasn't a bad thing, but I would have liked it throughout the book instead because it felt a little rushed. But it left me wanting more. I really want to know what happens next for these two. I can't wait to dive into the next one.
