#16: The White Rose by Amy Ewing
The White Rose - Amy Ewing

As usual, I find myself not really liking the second book of a trilogy. It's always difficult for me to rate them or to know what to think of them. This one was particularly not to my liking. I mean, I liked to learn more about this world and the plot was great but it just felt flat. There was no real dynamics in the book; I was not captivated by it.

The plot was great: the truth about the Surrogates and about the creation of The Lone City was quite a surprise and I found the idea really good, it quite surprised me, I was not expecting that. But the book was too slow, by the time Violet and her friends find the truth and decide to do something about it, the book is over. I felt like nothing happened during this book and that was the problem with it.

However, there is this really great plot twist at the end that was just amazing! I will definitely read the third book and I hope I will like it more than The White Rose.

#13 - REREAD: Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
Glass Sword (Red Queen) - Victoria Aveyard

I first read this book last year in March. I decided to re-read it, after re-reading Red Queen and before starting King's Cage (still haven't received my copy, but it's supposed to be here next week!)

See my original review on Goodreads.

My rating is still the same and I don't have a lot to add about this book. It felt flat to me but I hope it's a way to prepare us for King's Cage. I'm really excited about it and I hope I won't be disappointed. I know it's already out, but I  don't want to read reviews, I need to make my own opinion (and reading other people's reviews will influence me, whether I like it or not!).

# 12 - REREAD: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Red Queen - Victoria Aveyard

I first read this book in May 2015. At the time, I had not read that many dystopian/fantasy YA novels. I can say I have read a lot more now, and my opinion of this book has chance just a tiny bit. My rating is still the same though!

I decided to re-read the series before starting King's Cage because I realized there were so many things I forgot.

See my original review on Goodreads/Booklikes

My opinion changed in the fact that I can see the flaws in the book now. I could not see them that clearly the first time I read it. The plot does not always make sense and some elements are just too forced and do not feel natural. Still, I totally enjoyed the world created by the author and Mare does not annoy me as much as she seems to annoy other people. Yes, now I can see what is annoying about here. But I do not dislike her, I even like her.

Knowing what was going to happen at the end, I feel like there were not a single thing that show that something like that was going to happen. The first time I found it really great, but this time I felt like it was not realistic. Somebody who is going to betray someone else in that way should show some indications that he is not totally loyal. I found it a bit weird and I would have liked to find more evidences now that I know how it ends.

Anyway, this book is great. I think more people should read it without paying attention to other people’s bad reviews. I always want to make an opinion by myself, even if the reviews are bad (I’m even tempted to read Carve the Mark… almost).
