Gays of our Lives
Gays of our Lives - Kris Ripper

Beebs' Review

Queers of La Vista, Book 1

Emerson has been diagnosed with MS and is very angry at the world and everyone in it. He sees it as a weakness when he has to ask for help or horror of horrors rely on his cane. A chance meeting on a bus brings Obie into his life and sloooooooowly, things start to change.

Emerson was a total douche for most of the book and spent all of his time pushing Obie away even though that wasn't what he really wanted. Luckily, Obie is persistent and doesn't give up on him. Emerson eventually comes to realise that he has some very good people in his life and that they actually want to help and that asking for help when needed is not a weakness.

Obie was a great character but I felt that I didn't know him as well as I would have liked and there are some great side characters in Emerson's students and Obie's friend Mildred. maybe there will be more about them in future books.

Hollywood Gays by Boze Hadleigh
Hollywood Gays: Conversations With: Cary Grant, Liberace, Tony Perkins, Paul Lynde, Cesar Romero, Randolph Scott... - Boze Hadleigh

I got this on sale from OmniLit during the publisher's Pride sale. It's a collection of interviews conducted by the author with several actors who enjoyed their prime between the 50s and 70s. Young readers might not be familiar with many, if not all, names, but if you're interested in older Hollywood gossip you'll get a kick out this book. Of the interviews I enjoyed the ones with Paul Lynde and Cesar Romero most. Some of the subject were coyer on the topic of homosexuality than others, but a quick read.

Cannot Wait to Get My Hands On This Book!
Call Me Home: A Novel - Megan Kruse,Elizabeth Gilbert

It's not coming out until spring 2015, but I am posting now to encourage people to be watching for it. Call Me Home is an amazing story of about a troubled family whose members struggle to come to grips with abuse, trust, betrayal, sexual identity, and finding ways to endure through hard times. I have read a very early version of this book by my talented and very special young friend, Megan Kruse. The main thing I remember from that reading was the unforgettable characters. I am beyond excited to see the final version come out and get a copy in my hands to read and share. Keep an eye out for this book! It's a great choice for anyone who likes contemporary realistic fiction. It's written for adults, but mature teens will like it too.

Little Stalker (College Fun and Gays #4) - Erica Pike

This was a cute little story, although I didn't like it as much as Hot Hands. A couple odd twists, although I understand why the author did them, to put Coby and Grayson more on even ground so it wasn't total hero worship. A decent short read from a fun and sexy series.
