I read Busted by Gina Ciocca to get the Maycomb County Courthouse card. It's a YA book.

Review:

This was one of those books that had an interesting premise but the reviews had me a bit skeptical to read it. There will be slight spoilers in this review but I will say first that this is a story that is overdone a lot in YA but is a quick contemporary read if your looking for something to pass the time.

I enjoyed that it was told alternatively by Kelsey in her Sophomore year (past), and her Senior year (present). However, this story was really back and forth throughout which did irritate me. This whole book could have been over pretty quickly if Kelsey and David had just admitted their feelings for each other but instead one would admit it then the other would deny it and vice versa. So frustrating.

Kelsey was also supposed to be such great friends with Candy but because the story revolved around Kelsey, David, and Ryan’s love triangle we never got to see much of them or their friendship. There was the aspect of bullying in Kelsey’s past but other than that there wasn’t much depth to the story. It would have been nice to see more interactions with her friends and family rather than them being in the background. I also still don’t understand how David could hang out with people who were really nasty to Kelsey. The two of them were best friends yet we never got an explanation of why he kept going back to them or why he would go out with all these bitchy girls when he knew he had feelings for her.

This whole story just seemed overly dramatised. I wouldn’t highly recommend it but it is a fast, simple read if your in the mood for some cheesy romance.
