Take Me For Granted by K.A. Linde is the first book in her Take Me series. This book also marks my first venture into the literary world of this popular author. While I can very much see that Ms. Linde is an incredibly talented author, this book fell a little short for me in its execution. I do believe that this is a case of “it’s me, not you”. I do like a novel with the bad boy/good girl trope; however, this one ended up just being a “good” read for me, nothing spectacular.





Aribel Graham is the quintessential good girl completely focused on her education at Princeton and equipped with her v-card at the ripe ole age of nineteen. Oh, and she somehow seems to be missing that brain-to-mouth filter and basically says whatever is on her mind. Ari’s goals are very one dimensional. Finish school and secure a good job. She has no time for anything else besides studying and focusing on getting good grades. Particularly, Ari has no time for partying, boys and anything that resembles fun. She definitely has no time for a certain foul-mouthed rocker who seems hell bent on getting in her pants.





Grant McDermott is the lead singer of a local Jersey band called Contraband who is most definitely enjoying indulging in all the “perks” of a rocker lifestyle. He’s a proud man-whore who loves them, leaves them and never looks back. Music is his sanity and his many vices are what keep the demons from his past at bay. When he meets a blunt and mouthy blonde at one of his shows who has the audacity to turn him down, Grant can’t help but be intrigued. After all, who would turn down his advances?

“You’re mine?”

“I’m your girlfriend.”

“No, Ari, you’re fucking mine.”

This is a storyline that has been done many times. Many, many times. Bad boy meets good girl, pursues good girl, good girl relents, bad boy wants to be a better man, angst and drama, then a happy forever. Or in this case, it was more of a happy for now. For me, nothing really made this book stand out. Like I indicated before, there is no doubt that K.A. Linde is a talented author. She wrote some very sweet scenes between the hero and heroine and the sexy times shared by the pair were wonderfully done. Although, my boy Grant did suffer from a serious case of blue balls until our innocent heroine finally gave up the goods. LOL!

This story fell short for me based on a few reasons. I had a hard time with a particular scene right at the beginning of the book. One of Grant’s band members does something that is absolutely deplorable and the fact that everyone was “ok” with what he tried to do flabbergasted me. I mean, really???? I even had a “what the hell” moment with how Ari responded to the said actions of the douche-bag band-member. The whole scene was just wrong and I had a hard time swallowing that pill. As the book went on and some misunderstandings occur between Grant and Ari, I felt the drama was a little over-the-top and could have been settled with a simple conversation. It just seemed so anticlimactic to me. I will admit that I did some skimming through the last part of the book.

All in all, Take Me For Granted was a well written book that likely was not for me. The book ends giving us a slight hint as some possible obstacles that Grant and Ari could be facing. I think fans of this author will enjoy this book. Will I be reading the next installment to this series? I am undecided at this point. I just may give it a go when the times comes.
