The Heart You Break - Cynthia Eden

So good. So hot. Just perfect. Lots of action, a mystery stalker, and bomber, that needs to be found, an undercover agent, and a bad boy rocker who isn’t what he appears to be in the spotlight. Julia lived through hell in her old life as a firefighter, but now in her new life as a security agent with Wilde Security, she has found a true home, and if not true happiness, then at least true contentment. When she is tasked with guarding Bran without telling him she is his bodyguard, she takes it on fully expecting to hate the guy. What she finds is someone who hides his own pain and lives behind a mask he shows to the world. Things are very fast paced in this one, maybe a few days before all hell breaks loose and the stalker turns into an arsonist and a bomber, all focused on killing Bran. When the truth comes out they struggle to move past the lies, but the stalker doesn’t leave them a lot of room to breathe before calling in another bomb threat and demanding a meeting with Julia, alone. I loved the story. It was full of everything I look for in a good romance (tension, passion, emotional appeal, and action). Great story, from start to finish.

5 Star Heart
The Heart You Break - Cynthia Eden

He has an obsessed fan that is escalating, but Rocker, Bran Copper refuses protection and just wants to be left alone. Julia Slate is undercover, she’s pretending to be his new assistant and while she may act shy and reserved, she can totally kick butt any day of the week. It’s supposed to be business only and he’s everything she doesn’t want. He’s been betrayed over and over again and now Julia is lying to him, too.

This rockin’ romantic suspense keeps readers dancing with all the remarkable chemistry and volcanic sparks flying everywhere right alongside the thrills and excitement of the danger facing Bran and Julia. These two characters are strong, bold and just steal the hearts of readers right out from under them as their relationship progresses despite how much neither of them wants it, which keeps heated, feisty and very entertaining, but the story also has lots of emotions flowing from the pages as well which ensures that readers really understand what motivates Bran and Julia, making them more real and full of depth.

The plot is fast paced and packed full of non-stop excitement, not only from the relationship but also from the danger stalking Bran. The thrilling suspense and expectation of this story continuously builds to epic proportions, keeping readers glued to the pages with stunning twists that throws everything the characters thought they knew right out the door. This plot is on the complicated side and shows just how the past can come back to bite people in the behind in this entrancing and stunning romance.

The Beginner's Guide to Necromancy, Book 3

Grier finally has the one thing she’s always wanted: Boaz Pritchard. Too bad her dream boyfriend is keeping her up nights, just not in a sweaty or fun way. Boaz has dialed down the Southern charm and stopped returning her calls. His job forces him to keep secrets, but his radio silence is cranking up her suspicions. He’s a shameless flirt, but he’s her shameless flirt…right?

Soon an attack on Woolworth House leaves her with bigger problems than he loves me, he loves me not. Vampires are on the prowl, and they aren’t the only predators circling. A new threat has emerged, one with blood rights to Grier. With enemies closing in on all sides, she must choose her allies, and the decision could make or break her…and her heart.

Warning: This book contains a buttload of zombie parakeet poop. Like grab a poncho and thank me later. Watch out, y’all. It’s about to hit the fan. Hearts will break, and heads will roll. Literally.

** Note: You do need to read this series in order.

How to Break an Undead Heart is by far the best in the Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy series to date. I devoured this extraordinary novel in one sitting.

WOW, the title should have been a dead give away, but I wasn’t expecting what happens to happen. The author left me an emotional wreck and I’m still getting tears in my eyes, when I think about what happened.

The story takes place close to where How to Claim an Undead Soul ends. Not much time has passed between books. Grier and company sparkle off the pages. Boaz is out on a confidential assignment, Amelie is working through her house arrest, and Linus is trying to help Grier get knowledge on her necromancy skills.

Their are a few different conflicts introduced in this one. The master is still trying to take Grier under his care, Linus and Grier are trying to understand what Grier can do, and Boaz is being sketchy.

In the last book Boaz said he was all in and it seams like they where finally going to be TOGETHER, but she has some concerns that he’s not as in as he said he was, especially since he’s talking to Amelie all the time and only shows up when Grier is severely hurt. I really liked Boaz and was hoping for the underdog to come out on top, but what Boaz does made me say Goodbye.

As for Linus; I still don’t see him as a lover, but the possibility is open. At this time he’s more a friend and teacher. I liked that we got to see more of Linus and his different masks he wears and his Wrath. The combination is interesting and Linus plays more of a role in this installment. He gets Grier out of the house, shows her a different life, and helps her grow. With what Grier went through she never got to have the life she dreamed and now she learns that she will never be the same Grier and it’s time to let go of many things and move forward.

So much happens in How to Break an Undead Heart. We learning more about Grier, get to meet new creatures, and have our heartbroken. Edwards ripped out my heart at the end. I’m not sure if I’m glad she did it, but I see it needed to be done. Grier needed to let go of so many things. No one likes to let their first love go, but it’s something that happens in life.

I’ll leave you with this. My heart broke for Grier and Woolly, the house, so have tissues ready. I cried the last 15% of this book, but I couldn’t stop; because it’s such an important and impactful moment for everyone involved.

Rated: 5 Stars

Made to Break Your Heart - Richard Fellinger

I loved this story about a man, his wife and son growing up in a small community outside Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It was very poignant and entertaining. Nick is the father, husband and little league coach for his son. This story shows little league in its true colors and with parent involvement, it's not a pretty sight. However, there were some very funny moments in which I laughed out loud.

Nick's wife seems to have a huge chip on her shoulder. And, as they do live in a very small town where everyone knows everyone, rumors run rampant. Unfortunately, his wife believes a lot of those rumors causing major riffs in their marriage. And personally, I really didn't like this character.

However, I loved the story, thought it was well written and very entertaining.
