What. A. Book!! How do I even review a book like this one? Like seriously! This book was crazy good. I would say it was more of a thriller with an intense and twisted story line than actually dark, though. I started off reading this book not knowing what to expect and I think this the perfect way to get into this one. You should definitely just dive into this book without reading any reviews because I think you will get a better experience from it.

Rika Fane is tired of feeling trapped and controlled. She wants to get the reins back of her life, so she has decided to go away to college and live on her own. She just needs to breathe and be herself, something she has done since that one night years ago with Michael.

Rika has known Michael Crist and his family her whole life. Michael has always been scary yet intriguing to her. She is drawn to him even though she knows she should stay away. Still, she falls for him despite him always overlooking and pushing her away. Rika saw something in him, something mysterious that she wanted to uncover. But, that was in the past. After what happened, she wants nothing to do with Michael and his friends, Kai, Will, and Damon. She just wants to be left alone. However, unbeknownst to her, Michael has her exactly where he wants her, in his building. He will get his revenge for what she did to his friends that night. No one gets away with betraying them. They will ruin her.

My feelings were pretty much all over the place with this book. There were some parts that were a bit hard to read through. Some things made me mad, others scared the ever-loving crap out of me. It was fast paced, and the things that happened. No matter what, though, I couldn't seem to put this book down. And when I did, it was all I could think about. I enjoyed the originality of the story. I liked seeing the characters grow. Especially Rika, because when she was younger, she kind of annoyed me a bit. But as she grew, she became stronger. Although, I really wanted her the make them work for her forgiveness. It kind of happened a little too fast for me. Then there was this one scene that I was totally not expecting but really liked. It was hot and sexy, and seemed to come out of no where, but again, I'm not complaining. All it left me with is a deep craving for Kai's book. I freaking hope he gets one and soon. The last part of this book was really good and it had me on the edge of my seat. The ending was good too, and it fit the tone of the story very well.

Overall, this was a book that you will love and hate. Just how I loved and hated Michael at the same time. The events in this book are twisted, kinky, and just plainly effed up which is why it definitely won't be for everyone. Still, I was unable to put it down, I was that engrossed in it. This may be different from anything that Penelope Douglas has ever written, but I think she did a great job with it. If dark and twisted romances are your thing, then I definitely recommend you give this one a read.

Tom Fearnes and Cass Pearson have been partners for nine years. They have a very unconventional relationship that most may not understand. They are open to sleeping around with other people but their hearts will always remain to each other. Things change a bit when Tom goes out one night to eat out. That is when he meets Jake, his waiter who is also very attractive. Tom finds himself drawn to him by something and it's not the tics Jake's Tourette causes, it's his personality. Tom wants to get to know him better.

Jake is quite the lonely man and because of Jake's tics, he has a lot of trouble staying employed. He loves the way Tom makes him feel so he goes home with him to spend the night together. Unfortunately, when he wakes up it's to Cass standing in the room and Tom gone. Jake is furious when he thinks Tom cheated on his boyfriend with him, so he leaves in a hurry. Not knowing that Cass is intrigued by him just as much as Tom is.

Tom is unable to get Jake out of his mind and Cass notices. He wants to go see Jake again but never goes back to the restaurant. They eventually cross paths again and this is where Tom finally explains his relationship with Cass to Jake. Cass wants to meet Jake formally but Jake is a bit hesitant. But Cass wants to reassure Jake that he is okay with Tom and him being together. And not just in a purely sexual way because Tom feels more for Jake than just that. That is where the beautiful love story between these three begins.





What a story! I honestly wasn't expecting such a wonderful and heartfelt story, considering most ménage books are mostly only based on the sex, but this was not the case. I loved Jake, he was so endearingly sweet and he had this innocence about him. But he was also very strong and he voiced his opinions loudly when he needed to. Tom was the foundation in this relationship, strong and supporting of both Cass and Jake. I really loved how kind he was. Cass was a bit broken by his past. He seemed to get somber quite a bit, but he was so loving. He was the one I wanted to know more about because he was a bit of an enigma. When I first started the book I got hooked on the dynamic between the three. I was lured in by the connection Tom and Jake had, which I just loved reading about. Once Cass was involved more in the relationship, I couldn't get enough of seeing him interact with Jake. The more time Cass and Jake spent together the more we get to see how they fall in love with each other.

I liked that the story was told in all three of their POV's, but it wasn't alternating, it was told in large parts by each character. The connection and overall relationship between the three was a very beautiful one. My heart melted at how much these three men took care and supported each other. All three characters had a piece of my heart, and together they were just perfect. Their relationship took a while to work out because of the doubts they had going on but, I absolutely loved how close all three of them finally became. It was a wonderful story and one I would definitely say you should check out. The only thing I can say is I wished Cass's POV would have been a bit longer. But overall, a really great read.

Oh, dear. This book...this book made me feel all kinds of feels. This was brutal to read at times because of the events that took place, and to the characters it happened to. I hate where the story went, but loved how well it was written.



I absolute LOVED Safeword the previous book in this series. And while I enjoyed this one--well, as much as a book like this can be enjoyed--I didn't love it like the last. Still, I liked the fact that the author brought something like gay male human trafficking to light. I would be lying if I said I wasn't hooked to the book. But, there were definitely moments I cringed, and teared up because it was just too much. I'm only glad things weren't more descriptive, or else, I don't think I would have been able to handle it at all.





If you read the blurb, you know that Myah, my favourite female character, has disappeared. She had been kidnapped due to her involvement with a previous case when she was working in Chicago. Myah goes through a horrific ordeal. I felt so much pain for her I just wanted it all to end. The tone of this book was definitely a lot darker than the previous books in this series. It actually affected my enjoyment of the hot scenes a bit because of it. I couldn't enjoy the steam when I just read the torment Myah was going through. The only scene I was able to enjoy was the threesome scene, the others, not so much.

Ben, I still love so. Freaking. Much. He did not disappoint me in this book. I love how selfless and caring he is with Gavin and with any person that means something to him. I loved that that chemistry between him and Gavin was still very much present. I loved the few moments of sweetness they shared. Ben is seriously one of the best book boyfriends.





I was hoping for a lot more in terms of the relationship part between Ben and Gavin. While we did get some--including a ménage scene that was pretty damn hot, which was one of the scenes I actually did like--I guess my inner romance nerd wanted more romance. I didn't get as much as I was hoping. It did get sweeter at the end but, it wasn't enough for me because time went by and I didn't get to experience it with them. However, there were a few moments here and there that completely melted my heart. And I loved seeing Ben and Gavin become so much more stronger as a couple after that ménage scene

The story line was a lot more solid in this book than those in the previous ones, but like I said, it was also much darker. I hated everything that happened to Myah. She totally didn't deserve to go through any of that. After going through that hell, I have to say I admire her for her strength and determination. She is one of the best female characters. Ever. The best part of the book for me was the Epilogue when things finally became a bit more happy. It was quite bittersweet to read. I was happy with their conclusion, I just wish it would have been more longer. Overall, despite it being a tough book to read, it was good and very well written. Now, I'm in dire need of a fluffy book to read.

I realized that it had been a long, and I mean LONG, time since I read something purely smutty. This series has been recommended to me time and time again for it's hotness, and it surely didn't disappoint in that area. At. All.



I am a sucker for 'friends to lovers' type of books. So, I was really excited to read this one. Kaleb Walker and Zoey Stranford have been best friends for years. It seems they both have shared a mutual attraction for one another but never said a word. Now, it seems they can longer keep it to themselves. What they didn't expect was that the other felt the exact same way.

The first part of the book was probably the part I enjoyed the most, just because I loved seeing these two come together as a couple. I loved the way Kaleb was with Zoey and how he took care of her. I loved that Zoey was a hardworking woman, and independent. Together they were quite sweet and endearing.



Very soon the book changes direction into a very hot zone. This book was crazy panty melting hot. This author sure knows how to write a sex scene, that's for sure. It's pretty perfect that they both were into the same kinky things, or else it would have not worked out. Keleb was very domineering and I loved that. I had no idea from first meeting Zoey that she would be as uninhibited as she was. And Gage...he was freaking smoking as well.

I really did enjoy all the steam in this book. A lot!! But...yes there is a but, the sex seemed to take up most of the book. This caused me not to really get to know both main characters very well. I would have liked to learn a little bit more of each one and have more on their stories. I also think Zoey was a little too blasé in certain situation for being a total newbie to certain acts. So, while the steam in this book was off the charts, I would have liked a bit more of a story line to keep me more interested.



Overall, a scorching read! And I will definitely be checking out more books in this series because the Walker men have totally intrigued me. Plus, I hear it only gets better. Can't wait!

Ahhh!! I absolutely hate when I end up not completely loving a book others really seem too. But unfortunately it happens. And in this case, I ended up not loving this book as others did. But I did end up somewhat liking it.






This story starts off with a sixteen year old Josiah Evans, and a seventeen year old Mateo Sanchez. Both of them are in foster care and end up in the same home. They both are completely different, but share a common bond of loss. They also share the fact that they are both gay. And as time goes by, this unlikely pair become close. What starts as a friendship, ends into a romantic relationship.

It was really beautiful to read how these two teens find love in each other. From that moment on, I was really hooked to their story. It was full of heartache, though. I felt deeply for these two--which ended up being three--lost souls. But I really thought that by having each other, they could all move on.

First, let me tell you a bit about Josiah--Jay. He was a really shy teen. As he grew up, he remained quite the same. He was sweet, and was really positive. But at times he also seemed to be kind of weak to me, and in other ways not so much. I felt like he relyed too much on the men he loved, rather than to be truly independent. But I also thought he was a brave person because he was able to tell people what the thought and felt. But still, I really wanted him to be stronger. Most of the story revolved around him. So that span of ten years are pretty much about his life and how Mateo and Tristan become a part of it. It was still in all three of their POV's, so don't worry.

Mateo is the gay son of a gang leader. His mother was killed and then found himself in the foster system. He has done and seen things no kid his age should see. When he meets Josiah, he feels the need to protect him. I loved Mateo for the way he cared for Josiah. I could really feel that connection between them. I was saddened by how unworthy he saw himself because he really was a good person at heart. I hurt deeply when circumstances caused him to let Josiah go. This caused him to not see him again until about ten years later.

This is where Tristan comes into the picture. Josiah has left New York and has moved to San Francisco. Here he meets Tristan, this lonely man who likes to keep control of his life and actions, and doesn't let anyone in. Josiah and Tristan are also very different and yet quite common. The start a strange relationship with very little talking. But with time, Josiah manages to get him to open up to him. As this kept going on, they ended up falling in love with each other. They were both so damaged and flawed, but together they worked so well. I started to really like the relationship that they had. Tristan had his own issues to get over, but I felt like the one person to help with that was Josiah. I just loved seeing them together.

I started really liking this story but slowly became...not boring exactly, just a bit hard to follow. It was just hard for me to see a connection between Tristan and Mateo. I think it was because of all the time that was skipped. But I wasn't able to truly feel it. I felt like they fell in love with each other too fast. I also feel like Mateo kind of became like the third wheel which was at times awkward to me. On the bright side, there was some crazy off the charts steam in this book. Like smokin' hot! But again, at times seeing them all together was a bit odd. It seemed to me at first like Josiah had to be with one or the other. And when the three got together, I didn't feel like enough time was spent on how that relationship between the three grew. Because again, time would just go by which was a shame.

While I loved the concept of this story, it didn't really end up working completely for me. I still managed to really enjoy it, however, but not love it. I liked each character individually and in pairs. I'm still not too sure how I feel about them all together. And it's not because I have a problem with menage stories because I don't. I did like learning about each of the character's terrible backgrounds. You could see how that molded them and caused them to live their lives the way they did. I liked that with the help of each other they were able to slowly move on and finally live. There was a sad tone to the story which at times I wished could have lightened up in some moments for a bit of relief. There was also angst which I did enjoy, as well as the high steam. Overall, I thought this one was a pretty good read.
