What can I say? Reaver was an amazing story, with a long trek through Sheoul, lots of innuendos, some nasty angels, good demons and so much intrigue my head was spinning.

My Reaver review:

I have started reading this series completely out of order, so I may have missed a thing or two – however, as you can see, I still loved Reaver! The writing is so good, and the characters grab your heartstrings from the beginning without ever letting go. There are incredible fights, both verbal and physical, romance, and of course a level of intrigue that is very hard to find. Reaver definitely showed a new side of himself here, especially because he managed to stay calm and actually do something constructive by trying to save Harvester. And for once, possible because she’d just endured months of torture, she didn’t have all her shields up, so she was much less prickly than usual.

The contradictions of this story don’t only inhabit Harvester, Reaver has his own, but also, the whole universe where there are angels and demons, and the angels are really supposed to be on the side of ‘good’, there are exceptions to every rule. Fast paced, the story took me first on a long, and quite scary trip to Sheoul, then there were so many other things happening it was hard to remember where, exactly, I was

Written in third person past tense, mostly from Reaver’s point of view, but also showing the reader quite a bit of what happens inside of Harvester’s head, Reaver is a very solid installment in the Lords of the Underworld / Demonica series. These demons are truly one of a kind, and I had almost forgotten how much I love them!

Review

This is my favorite book of the Four Horsemen. I love the conflict. The love story is awesome. The arc of the series is spot on. I will reread this one for sure.

I had no issues with Resph because I didn't read the books in order. Ha. Take that! I liked this book enough to read the rest of the series is lovely binge.

The struggle to accept that he was posssed by a demon who did the most horrific of things with his body while he watched is a wonderful internal conflict. He has all the memories of the evilness and worse yet the emotionial memories of the demon who possessed him. Talk about a tortured hero.

I think that I have some anger towards his siblings who get it but don't. They easily could have been taken over by thier demons as well but can't seem to truelly fathom the reality. Resph's humility, humanity and growth are why I love him best. My anger is sign of how engage I am in this world.

His heroine is badass. She grows past her fears and hangs in there with a wonderful loving hero.

So good!

Review

This is an epic romance. The world building, the love story, action, characters, and climax are all wonderful.

Ione is at the top of her writing game.

The heroine is full realized as her own person. She is doctor She is very comfortable and confident with her sexuality which is always great to see. Her dilemma's are compelling and we get to watch her fall in love.

The hero is broody, pragmatic, and yet thoughtful in all his bad angelness. He is such a badass. We get see my solve the mystery of himself and fall in love love.

The closing series of the series are everything a reader could want.

This book is not a gory as the ones before it (yeah!) and much more emotionial powerful as all the prophesies play out. Epic. And no one deserves an HEA more than these two.

Review

I bought this book in 2011 and didn't read it until 2015. Why? Well, I do have a huge TBR but given how much I love Larissa Ione that really wasn't it.

I started this book many times and just couldn't get past the opening. Ares seemed to cold. Cara too generic. The world gory, grim, and unyielding. I can't stand horro movies and parts of this book and this series veer sharply that way. If this book were a film, I would never have gotten through it or watched it. The villian is awful.

So, how did I end up reading this romance and likely it so much? Well, I have no problem reading out of order. I started with the novellas in this series and then read Rogue Rider where the villian in this one gets to be a hero again and then started in on this one.

Here is what I liked about this book--the love story. Ares comes to fully see Cara as her own kind of warrior. Ares grows. Cara's talent and animal/demon friends are awesome!

There is great adventure here.

I squinted my eyes through the villian, torture, and gore. 

For me the wonderfulness isn't the mystery of the plot arcs for the series, I just enjoyed the realtionship. Good stuff.
