Wilma Jean the Worry Machine, written by Julia Cook and Anita DuFalla, is an awesome book to read to students. Wilma Jean worries about everything concerning school, whether it’s getting called to work a math problem on the board to not having anyone to play with during recess. The teacher does an activity which allows the children to write worries they can and cannot control. By doing this activity, this helps Wilma Jean control her worries. It gives parents and teachers insight on what students worry about on a daily basis. Reading this book to the class will help them accept things that they can’t change! I can do an activity similar to what the teacher in the story did, have the students write out the worries that the can and cannot control.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, written by Bill Martin Jr and is a fun book to read! This book is all about the alphabets and rhyming! This is a great book to read for teachers AND parents! I can use this book in my classroom for teaching the alphabets and rhyming words! I can play the song that goes along with this book so that the students can learn how to recite the alphabets without even knowing it!

Back of the Bus, written by Aaron Reynolds, is a fantastic read! The story is about a young boy and his mother riding home on the same bus that Rosa Parks was on. He was playing with his marble when it fell on the ground and rolled directly to were Rosa Parks was sitting, in the front of the bus. He knew that she was not allowed to sit in the front but he had no idea what was about the life changing event that was about to take place. I can use this book in my classroom when teaching about Rosa Parks and how she contributed to the Civil Rights Movement because it gives the students a child's perspective on what happened to Rosa Parks.

Click, Clack, Splish, Splash is such a fun read for children! It’s a short story about animals preparing for a fishing trip. I can definitely use this book for teaching counting and  numbers! I can go through each page with the students and count how many animals there are so that I can connect the specific number with the animals!

Should I share my Ice Cream, written by Mo Willems, is a really cute book. This book is about an elephant who bought ice cream for him to share with his best friend, Piggy. Elephant continued to come up with reasons as to why he didn’t need to share with Piggy. Maybe piggy didn’t like the flavor he had or maybe piggy had his own ice cream. As he continued to go back and forth with himself, his ice cream eventually melted. Turns out Piggy did have his own ice cream and he was not hesitant to share with his best friend, elephant! I can easily use this book to teach adjectives and concepts about print in my classroom! After reading this book, I can have the students describe their favorite treat using adjectives!
