REVIEW: My Nights With Kate by M.T. Stone

22yo college senior didn't expect her internet request for a sugar daddy

to yield the famous fashion-merchandising guru she's had a crush on since childhood. 49yo CEO Hero not only wined her and dined her in luxury but also eagerly supported her career ambitions in the fashion industry. He also matched her sexual prowess and openness to sexual adventure. However, he seemed to be distancing himself away the more from her the more he made things happen for her career. Why is putting limits in their relationship?

This was a waste of time. And I felt fooled by the book synopses. It made it sound like it would be a good & sexy May-December romance, especially the part that described it as “A red hot affair (that) transforms into a beautiful love story”. It was neither good, sexy, or romantic. And, “love story”? Not even. The book description made it sound like the book was an erotic romance. It's NOT. It's purely erotica & it wasn't even good erotica. There was plenty of detailed sex scenes but it was too technical to evoke sensuality. It catalogued the life of about-to-retire 49yo Hero, which is now filling up with sexual adventure than ever before. His voice was the most real among all the other POVs (point of views). I'm actually convinced that the author of this book is an older male.** If the author is actually a female, then the author writes male gerontology better than female young adulthood. Except for the archaic endearments 49yo Hero used for heroine. It made him sound more like a 70-year-old than a 49-year-old American male. Emotional pull of this book was severely lacking. Pages were spent more on business & luxury items than on character and romance development. I got bored & didn't want to waste any more time so I skimmed the last half. Turned out it was the best idea.

Not recommended.

**My explanation of why I believe this author is an older man is here.

REVIEW: The Most Expensive Lie of All by Michelle Conder

25y.o. veterinary student makes 32y.o.ex-polo player Hero sign a contract about him loaning her $10 million in exchange for 1 night of sex so he can't renege on it.

Desperation made her approach him for a loan since she only had 5 more days to buy the horse farm her deceased mother grew up in. As distasteful sex is for her, heroine agrees to ruthless businessman Hero's sex proposal. He wants vengeance for her seductive deception, which caused him to get booted out of the farm and end his flourishing polo career 8 years ago. But spending time together now changes both their previous views of each other. And confirming that their strong attraction in the past is still very much alive now. When heroine finds out about Hero's plan to buy out the farm from under her, her feelings for him is undermined. How can he win her trust back?

I enjoyed this Conder book. Strong characterization, great sexual tension, tender but hot sex scenes, and emotionally engaging. Hero and heroine start out with negative views about each other, based on their past history 8 years ago. The distant trajectory of where their views and feelings for each other were steadily closed as  the book unfolded. We saw them change as they realized certain things about themselves and each other. They grew closer as they shared their fears and motives and understood each other more. It was interesting to see Hero soften up to heroine as he found out the truth about really happened in the past.** His sensitivity to her sexual problems endeared him to me even more. I loved how he got her and did his best to make her feel loved and supported. It was a good character & romance journey.

Highly recommended.

REVIEW: Forty 2 Days (The Billionaire Banker) by Georgia Le Carre

20y.o. heroine agrees to finish the 42 days she reneged from her previous contract to be 30y.o. billionaire banker Hero’s mistress a year ago.

As a result, she’ll get the business loan she needed for the store she and her best friend plan to set up. Heroine’s primary motive, however, is to be with Hero as much as she can. Being away from him was very difficult yet she cannot tell him about their 3-month-old son. Hero restarts their affair with a vengeful plan to treat her like sex object but her open and vulnerable responses to him eventually soften his attitude. When things go well with their romance, the dangerous interference of his family make her think twice about staying with Hero for the remainder of their current contract. What does she do? How does Hero respond?

I liked this book much more than book 1, [b:The Billionaire Banker|18634471|The Billionaire Banker (The Billionaire Banker, #1)|Georgia Le Carre|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1381228785s/18634471.jpg|26166702] (my review here). The writing was edgier, smoother, steamier, and more emotionally-evoking. The biggest progress was that we finally get to know Hero, unlike book 1. I felt more connected to him as I learn more about his inner motives and he began getting more emotionally unhinged due to how heroine made him feel. But his openness also displayed that he was a broken man with a secret past.** Heroine had secrets and I liked how she was able to maneuver them yet still get what she wanted. She grew up since book 1 and she’s now taking charge of her wants and needs instead of just being a victim of circumstance. I enjoyed this book immensely and was a fast read because it was unpredictable and sometimes shocking.

Highly recommended.
